Well, I don't usually say this, but I think today's been one of the worst days I've had in years. Work is solely to blame - new computer system that doesn't work, I don't know if we have been credited for all the hard work we did, Wal-mart douchebaggery beyond belief, and yes, Facebook has kicked me out forthe 4th time.

I just don't want to talk about crap everything is. It's too dreary and depressing and I just want to go to bed and lick my wounds. I'll catch you all tomorrow - and thanks for the AMA today - it was truly the only bright spot in this shit day.

Well, it's been a day of DIY and reading. We finished putting the concrete leveling grout in the cracks of the floor in the SteamLib, and decided to give it one more dryng day. It was supposed to be done when the lazy jerk replaced the carpet (they did it in the kitchen, but I was in here watching them) but since I wasn't back there with him, he just put the underlayment and carpet down. One of the cracks is quite long and about 1/8" wide, but doesn't appear to be uneven. We took some self-leveling grout to it, and I think that will do the trick.

[livejournal.com profile] stgulik sent back Book One of Her Minder today. It's as ready for sending out as it's going to be. I'm planning on sending it out starting Tuesday. I'm still trying to come up with a Query Letter. This is the most stressful thing I have ever done. It's so hard. But Book Two will be going through final, final edit starting this week. The thing that encouraged me is that most query letters ask you to submit the first three chapters of the novel. I just finished reading the first three chapters and I was really happy with it. I don't think I've ever been able to say that. It was interesting, but also left me thinking, "I'd like to see what happens next." Wish me luck that agents will think the same thing.

There has been an upside, though. I dragged myself into the sewing room and finished my steampunk collar. It weighs a ton. Pics later, I promise. Now I just have to finish the skirt and the hats and I'll be in good shape.

My friend [livejournal.com profile] voxangelus reminded her f-list today of the SED. Something Every Day that a few of us did last September or so. It is a personal commitment to find something (preferably positive) every day, and write it down in your journal. I remember feeling like it was very therapeutic when I did it in September, and I think it might be a good idea for me for the next month or so. My job, which is supposed to be around 25 hours per week, is sitting at a whopping 52 hours of scheduled projects this week. I have spent from 8am to 6pm today standing on the cement floor of a Wal-Mart today, with no break, and while I appreciate the money in the end (and the fact that I have a job at all), I am already exhausted and it's not even Tuesday yet. Worse for me is that when I work days like this, I have absolutely no energy to write or work on my con talk or costume or knit. I'm so sorry; I realise how self-centred and petty that sounds, but those are my sanity preservers, and I miss doing them. Thankfully, I got a decent headstart on the costume before this madness started, and my boss is supposed to drop two stores from our list, so things should loosen up in the next couple of weeks. If they don't, I'll go spare.
