Being A CopyCat for All The Right Reasons

voxangelus reminded her f-list today of the SED. Something Every Day that a few of us did last September or so. It is a personal commitment to find something (preferably positive) every day, and write it down in your journal. I remember feeling like it was very therapeutic when I did it in September, and I think it might be a good idea for me for the next month or so. My job, which is supposed to be around 25 hours per week, is sitting at a whopping 52 hours of scheduled projects this week. I have spent from 8am to 6pm today standing on the cement floor of a Wal-Mart today, with no break, and while I appreciate the money in the end (and the fact that I have a job at all), I am already exhausted and it's not even Tuesday yet. Worse for me is that when I work days like this, I have absolutely no energy to write or work on my con talk or costume or knit. I'm so sorry; I realise how self-centred and petty that sounds, but those are my sanity preservers, and I miss doing them. Thankfully, I got a decent headstart on the costume before this madness started, and my boss is supposed to drop two stores from our list, so things should loosen up in the next couple of weeks. If they don't, I'll go spare.
So, my SED for Monday, March 11, 2013: I completed a very difficult and physically demanding project, and I've soaked my tired old bones in the world's hottest shower. There's a bag of peanut M&Ms with my name on each one, and a favourite old fanfic beckons from my Kindle to read in bed and get in an early night. The Hubs' play is over (I'm sorry we couldn't meet up,
sandlappershell, but I couldn't get tickets for that night), and life feels a little more normal.
Oh, and I forgot! My awesome friend
jenidralph created my own MIni Manga Me. I had professed great jealousy over hers and
toblass' Manga girls, so what did Jen do? Created one for me. I'm so tired I forgot to include it.

I think I'm one darn cute manga. This is the me that nobody sees except one, and he sees me like this every day, and has for lifetimes.
I leave you with music from my new favourite band of steam-driven robots, Steam Powered Giraffe, which is a SED all by itself. It's a sweet song about finding your way home, and it always makes my heart soar. Here is a live version of the song. It's not the best audio, but you can totally get it. It's a song that has a 'Gene Autry' feel. Very down to earth and comfortable, like a warm pair of slippers. I can't say enough good about these darling guys.
It's a great song which reminds us that home is, after all, what you love, no matter where it is. The last two lines always make me tear up: "If we all look towards what we miss most and keep that drive in our heart, Well, That'll be the way home..."
A man takes off from an airfield and he's a'soaring very far from home 'cause he flies a B-17 straight through the sky
He's homesick and he knows it'll be a long time till he's done and he's got a beautiful girl waiting at home
He opens up a letter from her. She writes, here's a color picture of me (a pretty picture)
Just head towards my blue eyes, when you're finding your way back to me
Well, That'll that'll that'll that'll that'll that'll that'll that'll That'll be the way home
Yes, That'll that'll that'll that'll that'll that'll that'll that'll That'll be the way home
Straight through the sky headed towards her blue eyes
A lieutenant of the Navy took his very first steps today Onto the ship that would become his new home
He and his wife had shared a very special goodbye when they kissed in the night underneath a star of their own
As the lieutenant gazed up and saw their star shining bright (oh so bright)
He knew it would guide him home when the time was right
Well, That'll that'll that'll that'll that'll that'll that'll that'll That'll be the way home
Yes, That'll that'll that'll that'll that'll that'll that'll that'll That'll be the way home
Starin' into the night Keeping their star in sight
All you infantry men and you riveting gals don't ever need to give up hope
all you doctors, and nurses, and engineers need not worry for long
If we all look towards what we miss most and keep that drive in our heart
Well, That'll that'll that'll that'll that'll that'll that'll that'll That'll be the way home

And yes, we will get together soon. I just hated I couldn't last week, but when things get a little more back to normal, I promise we'll get stuff done!

She kind of looks like a Kewpie doll to me. XD
