At my flist's suggestion, I took some Antique Matte Mod Podge to the train case, and I thank you for the suggestion - it worked a treat, and it really looks good! I also managed to line it without going too crazy. It's not professional looking but it's just for us, so it is good enough for me.
Today, I decided to make something yummy, but it's a couple of days before payday, and some of my ingredients had to be substituted. Even so, it tasted wonderful.
Crustless Cranberry Pie
Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups Craisins or cranberries
1/2 cup chopped almonds
1/2 cup applesauce
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease one 9 inch pie pan.
2. Combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Stir in the craisins and almonds, and toss to coat. Stir in the applesauce, mayo, and vanilla extract. If you are using frozen cranberries, the mixture will be very thick. Spread the batter into the prepared pan.
3. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 40 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted near the center comes out clean.
Of course, the original recipe called for 1/2 cup butter instead of applesauce, and 2 eggs instead of mayo. It actually called for walnuts and almond extract, but I had neither! It's sort of a Frankenstein of the original, but it was darn tasty nevertheless.
I also made home-cooked pinto beans today. They were awesome - and I ate way too much of them. I will probably explode later.
I read a really sexy fanfic today, and it got me wanting to write sexy SSHG. We'll see what DMuse has in store. Tomorrow is work.
