Last year, I started out the Snowflake Challenge with gusto. It was the second or third year I'd participated, and one of the things I love about the challenge is the feeling that it gets the new year off to a good start with writing. When Alan Rickman died, I stopped. I was so saddened by the loss of this very special man, I could hardly write about it. Almost a year later, I still cannot watch any of his films.
Then, in February, a good friend asked to read my novel, and wanted to know if I would read hers. No only did she provide me with a great sounding board (and the chance to enjoy her writing, which I admire so much), but she helped me to find my confidence about my own work again. So I'm taking the Challenge again, and hoping that this year, there will be no traumas to interrupt it.
