Day 8
In your own space, make a list of at least 3 things that you like about yourself. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Hmm....Well, let's see. I do think I'm a decent writer. I know I have ticks and habits I need to lose, and I overuse certain well-loved phrases, but I think when I am properly inspired I can be quite good. I don't believe I'm doing anything alone, though; I definitely have a Muse who helps me out. That much I do know.
I do like the fact that I am crafty and I've tried my hand at a huge amount of crafts over the years. I've painted ceramics and woven macrame, I've embroidered and stenciled and sewed and scrapbooked, crocheted and quilted and knitted. Thankfully, I'm married to a guy who likes crafts as well, and is extremely indulgent. I'm pretty good at some of them, like sewing and scrapbooking; I was rubbish at cross-stitching and candlewicking. Quilting I loved, but it's too detail oriented for an instant gratification girl like me.
I like the fact that, while I know I have a long way to go before I even see the faintest outline of perfection's city limits, I have tried to improve those things I truly wanted to improve, instead of letting my insecurity force me back into the wilderness. If I want something badly enough and I'm confident I have the ability, I will at least try, instead of sitting around bemoaning the fact that I haven't. Of course, I still haven't got the novel published yet, but...
Baby steps. Baby steps.
