As you know, I love fan art and Perselus is a another fab artist in this brilliant constellation of stars. She recently posted this to her page, and I wanted to share with you, if you are not familiar with her work:

Hello Everyone!

Before I go to my next commission, I've come up with this new idea that could be really helpful, and very productive.

I'm opening my schedule to commissions with one character per picture, any character you want. It could be a fanart or portrait. No background, just a color of your choice, and I'll be charging $10 a picture.

If anyone's interested just send me a note. Also, if you guys could please spread the word, I'd be really thankful!

The last few days have been such a roller coaster ride for us. Once we decided to close the shop, we were, of course, inundated with friends and customers, all clamoring for tea and, of course, to scavenge a little. We are giving everyone the chance to do that on April 16; we are having a 'Yard Sale', at the shop, and everything will be for sale.

We have laughed and cried over it; now I feel a peace about it. I know it's time to go. A lady always knows when to leave a party, and the Victoria will be no exception. It's ironic that the last two days have been record sales, since everyone is coming by to say their farewells.

Monday night, I had a long chat with [livejournal.com profile] mimimanderly on emails about all the things that interest us; a little while later, the phone rings and it's [livejournal.com profile] sempraseverus . I was more excited than if Alan Rickman had called! We talked for over an hour - what a neat, wonderful  person. I just felt like I was speaking to someone I'd known my entire life. It's the same with Mimi darling. Just kindred spirits. I can't wait to meet these two beautiful ladies in person - we've decided to have our own con on Sempra's farm! It was a wonderful moment - and one that shouldn't have happened - I never keep my phone handy, but for some reason it was right by my side. Karma. I'm a big believer in it.

These two ladies, along with so many of you, have inspired and encouraged me, and I am just blown away by the talent of the friends I have here. Just today, [livejournal.com profile] bulletimescully has posted a new manip on dA for my fic "As Morning Falls" . You can see it HERE. just another example of how people like her, and Tally and Sempra and Mimi have graced me. If you are not familiar with Bulletime, check out her work, friend her, and you will be blown away by her stunning writing and art. She's on Ashwinder, TPP and other archives as well.

So many of you have been so generous to me.  I have just adored Sempra and Mimi's work from day one; they were the ones who got me into fanfic. Others encouraged me to try, and it has made me a better writer quickly. Up until then, it was all original stuff. Which segues into the next point.

At the end of March, I sent 4 Chapters of my original fic Her Minder to a publisher, as you do, and on March 25th I received a note saying they usually took 6-8 weeks to get back to you. On Sunday, I got a request from the publisher to review the entire book! I'm very thrilled that they wanted to look at it. So keep fingers and toes crossed.

As I have said, it hurts to have a dream end, but I'm at peace with it. We got to build it, we did it on our terms, and hopefully we will end it the same way. The shop is the reason I met my best friend, who turned me onto fanfic, which encouraged me to start writing again, which encouraged me to find visual references, which led me to Sempra and others, which led me to fanfic, which led me here. If for no other reason than that, I will always be grateful we opened the Victoria.

The Hubs will be rehearsing 5 nights a week starting next week for a play, so I'll be all alone for almost two months in the evenings. I'm probably going to be writing my face off here. I apologise in advance if you start getting sick of me!

Well, the day arrived. The Hubs and I announced to the world that as of Saturday, April 9th, we would close the Tea Room permanently. As of that date, the Victoria Tea Room is no more.

I am terribly sad, but philosophical. We honestly tried our damdest to keep it going, and friends rallied around in all sorts of wonderful ways. We are a little overwhelmed with all the stuff we have to do to clear out the building, but we have given ourselves a week to do it. At the end of that week, we will be having a huge 'Yard Sale' at the shop and try to sell as much as we absolutely can. Please keep fingers and toes crossed for us.

Our largest shop fitting was bought today, so that takes a little pressure off us for the short term. Our personal household expenses aren't too big, so we don't have to search for high powered jobs to keep us afloat. Wish us luck.

Okay, I finished my first attempt at drawing something last week, and in a fit of bravado (and the anticipation of a couple of margaritas at our local Mexican restaurant later), I'm screwing my courage to the sticking place and posting my drawing.

First Attempt at TeddyArt )

I'm hoping I don't sound like the biggest berk in the world when I say I think I've got some potential for improvement. Thanks to everyone, by the way, who encouraged me to give it a try. It was, as [livejournal.com profile] mimimanderly says, relaxing and for the most part fun.

The Hubs and I went to the recording studio today to polish up some recording. A song of mine was selected to be the title track of the EP we are putting together for our Songwriter's Guild, so I figured I'd better go and record it. It turned out ten times better than I'd hoped. I got little sleep last night, and I was just exhausted and afraid my voice would show it, but it went really well. We also polished up bits of the stuff we'd already recorded, including the song As Morning Falls, which I based a fanfic on. The songwriter wants to read the fic, although he knows nothing about HP, and I don't know that he would appreciate the story, but the song is so beautiful, and I got to do backing vox on it, so I'm very proud.

The song I recorded tonight is called Inspire, and it is a little conversation between myself and my Muse. It was written in about five minutes after a conversation with Mimimanderly, and I'm about as proud of it as I am anything I've ever done.

I finished my first drawing and I'm pretty happy with it. It took me ages to get a face drawn correctly. I have no training and very little patience and no idea of spacial awareness, so the fact that I can actually draw something that remotely looks like people can only be attributed to the Muse.

I'm totally shattered and tomorrow is St Paddy's day, so I have to get into the shop early and deck the halls with boughs of Shamrocks. Goodnight, my dear friends.
