Yay! Games night with our Dominant friend and his wife, the lovely Kela. Every other Sunday we get together, cook each other meals and play board games. We've got to find some new ones. The ones we have are too familiar, and we know each other too well. We have lost the ability to shock each other. We all play a mean Scrabble, and we love Loaded Questions and Apples to Apples, but we always get them right because we are so familiar with each other.

We've been doing this since last January - it's the only New Year's resolution I've ever kept. I think because, familiar or not, we end up laughing so hard beer is coming out of our noses and at least once in the evening either Kela and I say something so dopey our men shake their heads in wonder at how they got saddled with such a couple of silly tarts.

Tonight's menu, Beef Stroganoff, with Beet, Walnut and Blue Cheese Salad, and Macaroon Cream Pie for dessert. Oh, and Mozzarella sticks for starters. I love those things.

LML is getting fast and loose. I just worked my way through my first 'constipation chapter'. It's the one that always feels like your trying to offload a brick, but once it goes, everything else just sort of slides out. Actually, by the time the Muse dragged me to bed and gave me a damn good seeing to, it was not one, but two chapters. Now I think we're getting somewhere.

About the best thing about having our friends over is the fact that the Hubs and I get off our fat arses and actually clean the house. His kids are coming to visit form the UK in about 4 weeks, and we need to get seriously busy readying the house for them. This sort of feels like the opening ceremonies. The Hubs has promised to make me a proper writing area once the kids leave, complete with writing desk, a place for all my treasures and inspirational items, and my lappy. There will go Sempra's poster, Mimi's drawing, her calendar, my tarot cards, my gemstones and my music. Cool beans.

I feel pretty good about this menu - not like the beautiful fish pie I made, then dropped as it was coming out of the oven. Kela grabbed a spatula and scooped the mess up into the pan and we ate it anyway. I was mortified. Kela and Bri are gourmets; we're just cooks. I get a little intimidated.

That sounds like so much fun. I wish Mr Vox and I had "couple" friends!

The salad sounds fantastic, especially.

Thanks, Vox! We had a fantastic time, laughing our heads off. Kela brought over this Orange Blossom Pilsner beer, which is made with OB honey and wow was it strong - we both got a little tiddly and lots of laughter ensued. I think that's why we still love doing it - at least once in the evening, the four of us will be crying with laughter over something.

The salad really turned out great - actually, the whole meal did - a first in a long time! I used little baby beets, some mixed greens, walnuts and blue cheese crumbles and topped it with a Lime Basil Vinaigrette, and it was really yummy. The pie turned out perfectly as well, and we had a great time.

Sounds like it will be a lovely writing area! Where do you do your writing now?

Mimi darling, I just write now on our kitchen table, and the Hubs is in the other room. We thought it would be nice to at least be in the same room as each other! He has graciously given up his rather nice computer desk for me, and he'll take the plain table. It will be nice to surround myself with the things that inspire me, instead of keeping them locked away for safekeeping while I figure out where to put them.

You can write in the same room with him??? He must be a good deal less intrusive than my husband....

He's not too bad! Because he is quite hard of hearing (almost 70% deaf), he keeps headphones on while he's online and usually when watching telly. Every once in a while he'll interrupt me to tell me something he found interesting or funny, but lots of times, he'll give me good advice on how to advance a plot. He's been invaluable with my original fic, because he worked for Scotland Yard for over 20 years and can give me a lot of help on how criminals and police think. My only hesitation is that the room we're doing this in is very badly insulated, so it's cold as a very cold thing in there. But I have my Muse to keep me warm! He gave me a very, very sick drabble this morning, by the way. So twisted I'm almost afraid to write it, but he's gonna make me. He's got that look in his eye - you know the one. He won't stop until I write it!

I'm writing it now - it's a little bizarre, and strange, but what can I do? He speaks and I must obey!

It is cool - the four of us made the resolution on New Years Eve, 2009, and we've not missed one yet. We may have had to put it back a week due to unforseen circumstances, but we always get together. Last night was a really good one - all my food thankfully turned out very good - the salad was a particular hit, and we just laughed ourselves into oblivion. I think that's the main reason we have kept it up - we just laugh so hard every time we do it.

We even went on vacation with them and had a games night - they are so much fun anyway.

Oh, man, you totally got me going with the term "our Dominant friend". Is that as in D/s Dominant? I'm like, ooh, shiny! with that. And if you're familiar with it, you totally have to write us a D/s SSHG.

K, shutting up now.

Oh, except about the writing place! SubHub made one for me when we moved to our new flat last spring, with all the lovely gifts I've received from everyone and my inspirational items ... you Hubs is a Good Man to be thinking of that for you!

Yes, I am familiar with it. My first full length story is an erotic original fiction about a D/s relationship. It's called Her Minder, and it's stuck in dA land, so you can read it there - I can't touch my stuff, but other people can - go figure.

Another reader liked it so much that she started her own fic about one of the Dominants named Elwess (who bears a rather strong physical resemblance to our favourite Potions Master. Gotta be done) and she started writing her own fic about him - I have fanfiction!!! Anyway, we started collaborating on it and we're just about finished. It's called The Family, and it's a take on the D/s world in England and Europe, but it also has a pretty good plot.

Her Minder started almost as a series of short stories about a couple enacting fantasies. The Dominant is called Dahlra Gar (I named him after my Muse) and it sort of ran away with me and became a story that a lot of folks seemed to enjoy. Initially, Dahlra thinks of himself as a sub, but realises that he is anything but. He's such a sexy character, but then again, so is my Muse.

I'm dead excited about the writing area. I've never had one of my own, and it's very fun to plan. But yes, our Dominant friend is just that.

I would love to write a D/s HG/SS, but I can't decide who I want to be the Dominant. I think either character has the potential to be both and sometimes at the same time!

I'm sure it'll be another wonderful night. Glad your muse is being cooperative.

The fic is finished and it is sick and twisted. Mimi has it right now, and she will be the arbiter to see if I should post it or not. I'm such a sicko!!!!

Is it worse than this drabble that I wrote for the Boggart challenge?

Well - lol - sick monkey boggart sex is pretty sick, but then again, who am I to argue?

I'm going to send you a PM about this in a minute.

Those kind of friends are always awesome, when you can just relax and be you. And bi-weekly meetings sound great.

We had friends like that. We never played board games (my parents thought them childish), but we could always talk about anything and everything. A couple of years ago my dad was insulted (majorly) by the male half of the couple, simply because dad earned less money than him. True, the friend was drunk (he started drinking a lot them, as I remember) and since then, they haven't visited and we haven0t visited. Their son and daughter, both my friends were pushing the guy to apologise, but he never did. Or maybe he did, but dad never told me.

Anyway. I'm excited to hear about LML and the new drabble. Can't wait!
