I know what love is. It's in the next room, sweating over a sink of dishes other people have eaten on, just so I can sit here and type. I know what family is. It's people who knew me on dA and moved  or re-established contacts here just to stay in touch with me.

I know what friendship is. It's people who know me only by the name of a child's bunny rabbit, and care enough to make me welcome and encouraged and wanted. It's all of you. Amazing. I had almost 150 messages last night, and each and every one of them boiled down to "Welcome here, we want you to be part of the fun stuff we're doing." What a message to receive. 150 times.

Let me introduce myself to all of you who so warmly welcomed me to your community of friends. I'm Teddy Radiator, I'm from the South, and I'm a writer. I started out as an original erotic fiction writer. Then one day, a good friend and fellow perv told me to read  a fanfic. It was called "For The Potions Master's Amusement". I can see you smiling, you. Yeah, I know. It changed my life, and opened it to the possibilities of writing about characters I loved in a whole new light. You can't get much more "whole new life" than FTPMA,. now can't ya?

I stumbled onto dA(boo) and found an artist named Sempraseverus. I was captivated. She issued a challenge. She drew a beautiful picture and said, "Okay, here's your challenge. Write something about this." The result was Spellbreaker, which can be found here: http://www.sycophanthex.com/ashwinder/viewstory.php?sid=23944

Then came another, inspired by one of the songwriter friends of mine named Jay Wright (I was at a meeting of songwriter's with him when dA chloroformed my account) and it became As Morning Falls. If you'd like to read it, it's here: http://www.sycophanthex.com/ashwinder/viewstory.php?sid=23997

I have others, but I don't want to sound like some sort of gushing swot (I hear you laughing, Sempra angel), but suffice to say that I have a Muse I love. Like Mimi, my Muse comes to me and whispers in my ear. Usually about 5:30 in the morning, he slips into bed behind me, between me and a very tolerant Hubs and has his wicked way with me. And when he does, I write.

I also have an original work of fiction called Her Minder, but I don't have it on any other forum at the moment. If you can suggest a good place for it, I'll post it. It's something I'm very proud of, and I'd welcome your opinions on it.

Thanks for letting me blather. I promise I won't be so verbose in future. Well, not as. Maybe.

And thanks for allowing someone  named after a child's bunny to become part of your community.

The Petulant Poetess has a section for original work. :)

If you're looking for something beyond an archive and Her Minder is erotica, I'll suggest contacting Circlet: http://www.circlet.com/

you can put your ofic on TPP. They have a category for it.

My muse take several forms. Cosplay muses are the embodiment of the character. They live in my head and poke my brains and demand I do things for them. I can tell them to shut up, which is good, because they always want stuff.

Is THAT what your name is all about?! I had no idea... I always meant to ask you how you came by your moniker!

I have heard that "people succeed in groups." I don't know if it's true in ALL cases, but I have certainly found it to be the case. When my friends do well, I tend to do well also. It's not a matter of anyone riding on anyone else's coattails... it's more of a case that people seem to want to share their good fortune with their friends, and so they are always willing to help out... to suggest sites of interest, or challenges, or just lend a hand or an ear (or some other body part!) Success breeds success....

A friend of the Hubs' gave his two children each a bunny, and told them that they could name their bunny anything they wanted. The little girl immediately said, "Fluffy!", but her younger brother went away and pondered it, and came back the next day and said he'd decided to name his rabbit after his two favourite things in his room.

I have always thought it kinda pitiful than one of the boy's favourite things would be the heating system, but it's a true story.

When we were playing in a pub band in the UK, I was the only gel in the group, and they all had silly nicknames. The Hubs was called The Bassman, the guitarist was El Tel, the drummer Monkey Boy, the sax player was Dickie the Dungeon Master (he was anything but!), and I said I'd be Teddy Radiator, and it stuck!

Plus, it's about 900 times more interesting than my real name. Even the Hubs, doing his best Mr. Rickman imitation (he's not bad), can't make my name sound sexy. so Teddy I is!

I thought that perhaps it was your husband's pet name for you; that you're cuddly, like a teddy bear, and warm like a radiator. LOL... Aliases never are that easily explained, are they?

Gosh! I wish I'd have thought of that!! I do tend to think of myself as very cuddly, and I'm having my first bouts of hot flashes, so....

I actually like your explanation better. I'm going to use it from now on lol!

I think you'll enjoy yourself here on LJ. The HG/SS community here is particularly welcoming, I've found, and we generally all know (or know of) each other, so no one remains a stranger for very long. ;)

I agree, Scattered. I got really fangirly yesterday, replying to several people whose work I've admired for so long. I'm afraid I giggled and gushed abit replying to both Ms_Figg and Astopperindeath - they are two particular favs of mine!

Pleased to meet you! To my shame, I'm not terribly good about reviewing, but what I've read of your writing I liked very much. You write such a lovely Severus and a Hermione to match.

And don't worry about being verbose - it's nice to hear from you, and I certainly wouldn't call it blather.

...I would never have guessed Teddy Radiator was a rabbit's name.

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed my fics. To be able to please the folks here is incredibly satisfying. I'm working on a new one, but this dA asshattery (gosh I love that word - it just sums everything up so well)derailed me a bit.

I also offered a story for the TPP auction, which Droxy won, and I'm just pleased as punch to be able to write something as a gift to such a special person.

Please see my reply to Mimi - it explains the baffling origin of my name!

Ahh, my SempraMuse! Yes, I feel loads better. The Muse had a little sweet snuggle with me this morning. He was very sweet, and when he was done, he kissed me tenderly, smacked my bottom and said, "Now get some work done!" Tough love, he knows I love it.

I'm getting ready to send out Chapter 3, as soon as I have another little twiddle. I had ended it, but the Muse decided he wanted a different ending, so I'll get that fixed.

sThank you for your Squeeeeeeeeeee - they are my chocolates with raspberry centres!

This has been the most amazing thing I've ever seen while online. Lots of love and support...incredible. Humbling. Life affirming. COOL.

Sending you loads of Muselove with his Abstract Heart....

Always, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship! Thank you so much for your encouragement and your warm words about my fics. I'm so new to this I'm still a little skittish, especially being around all these great writers I have admired from afar.

Thanks for all the welcoming words!!! I love a few exclamation marks of my own!

I'm always interested in others and how they see their muse. I hope you find LJ a fine home for your inspirations. The community here is very much like a family, the HP community is how I met my soulmate and love of my life, as well as this large family of fiends.

Though my own writing muse has been on holiday for some years now, taken over by the acting muse has been front and center, along with the performer - voice, dance. It keeps us very busy and happy, acting out scenes, still photo shoots, always tweaking presentation, embodying the character.

I understand exactly what you mean. The Hubs and I are both musicians and we play locally, and we both are into acting. In fact we are going to be in a play in February, and I'm a little nervous about it, as I've had no real prep time. I may fall flat on my face, but I'll give it a go.

Thanks! As I said, my real name is awful. My mother confessed that she named me after a soap opera character! A few years back, I ran into another person with the same name, and she told me her mother had named HER after the same character! Musta been some saucy character. Too bad she had such a naff name.

I'm sure someone has already mentioned The Petulant Poetess as a venue for your o'fic, or at least I would be very surprised if you have 25 comments without it getting mentioned. If it has, poke me and I'll find the URL.

Anyway, I should say get used to the attention. We're a friendly lot in our little corner of the fandom, and as I mentioned even before dA went into self-destruct mode, we always like to find promising new talent.

Thank you, Tales! I will get it polished up for TPP. I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with commas, and I remember cringing when I put up Spellbreaker on there, because each chapter averaged about 25 corrections. I was a little embarassed, but I don't mind now.

I should be uploading my other fics to TPP as well. I seem to have a completely different audience over there, and I want as much input as possible from as many sources as possible.

It's lovely to be here. The feedback is so varied and encouraging, and having old friends like Sempraseverus (whom I hero worship to the point of irritation, I'm sure!), Droxy and Mimi and several others I met on dA, plus this incredible array of new friends has really been a blessing in disguise.

I really do wish dA would at least acknowledge my appeal. They are supposed to give you a reply within 4 days, and it's day 4 now, so we'll see. In the meantime, have a great day.

Hi, Teddy. I'm Penny, and I live in NZ. My stories are under sunny33 on TPP, mostly SSHG but a smattering of many others as well. Do come and join us in chat some time on your Friday or Saturday nights by clicking the Chatzy link at the bottom of the TPP page. You don't have to be crazy to chat there, but it sure helps! :D

From: [identity profile] teddyradiator.livejournal.com
Penny, I'd love to chat with you. I think it would be wonderful to be a part of it. Craziness runs in my family. It's not a question in my neck of the woods if you have crazy people in your family - it's which side. And we don't hide them away, either. We bring 'em down in the parlour and show 'em off!

Thanks for everything. I have never seen the likes of what has happened to me on this website, nor have I ever heard of such an overwhelming response. I'm so moved and humbled by the outpouring of love and support. It just blows my mind. I ask other friends if they'd every experienced anything like it, and none have.

I've never thought of myself as anything special or unique or overly talented (Jack of all trades, master of none), but I sure feel differently here. I'll try to catch with you next week.
