I know what love is. It's in the next room, sweating over a sink of dishes other people have eaten on, just so I can sit here and type. I know what family is. It's people who knew me on dA and moved or re-established contacts here just to stay in touch with me.
I know what friendship is. It's people who know me only by the name of a child's bunny rabbit, and care enough to make me welcome and encouraged and wanted. It's all of you. Amazing. I had almost 150 messages last night, and each and every one of them boiled down to "Welcome here, we want you to be part of the fun stuff we're doing." What a message to receive. 150 times.
Let me introduce myself to all of you who so warmly welcomed me to your community of friends. I'm Teddy Radiator, I'm from the South, and I'm a writer. I started out as an original erotic fiction writer. Then one day, a good friend and fellow perv told me to read a fanfic. It was called "For The Potions Master's Amusement". I can see you smiling, you. Yeah, I know. It changed my life, and opened it to the possibilities of writing about characters I loved in a whole new light. You can't get much more "whole new life" than FTPMA,. now can't ya?
I stumbled onto dA(boo) and found an artist named Sempraseverus. I was captivated. She issued a challenge. She drew a beautiful picture and said, "Okay, here's your challenge. Write something about this." The result was Spellbreaker, which can be found here: http://www.sycophanthex.com/ashwinder/viewstory.php?sid=23944
Then came another, inspired by one of the songwriter friends of mine named Jay Wright (I was at a meeting of songwriter's with him when dA chloroformed my account) and it became As Morning Falls. If you'd like to read it, it's here: http://www.sycophanthex.com/ashwinder/viewstory.php?sid=23997
I have others, but I don't want to sound like some sort of gushing swot (I hear you laughing, Sempra angel), but suffice to say that I have a Muse I love. Like Mimi, my Muse comes to me and whispers in my ear. Usually about 5:30 in the morning, he slips into bed behind me, between me and a very tolerant Hubs and has his wicked way with me. And when he does, I write.
I also have an original work of fiction called Her Minder, but I don't have it on any other forum at the moment. If you can suggest a good place for it, I'll post it. It's something I'm very proud of, and I'd welcome your opinions on it.
Thanks for letting me blather. I promise I won't be so verbose in future. Well, not as. Maybe.
And thanks for allowing someone named after a child's bunny to become part of your community.

Date: 2011-01-06 06:20 pm (UTC)My muse take several forms. Cosplay muses are the embodiment of the character. They live in my head and poke my brains and demand I do things for them. I can tell them to shut up, which is good, because they always want stuff.

Date: 2011-01-06 06:25 pm (UTC)I have heard that "people succeed in groups." I don't know if it's true in ALL cases, but I have certainly found it to be the case. When my friends do well, I tend to do well also. It's not a matter of anyone riding on anyone else's coattails... it's more of a case that people seem to want to share their good fortune with their friends, and so they are always willing to help out... to suggest sites of interest, or challenges, or just lend a hand or an ear (or some other body part!) Success breeds success....

Date: 2011-01-06 07:19 pm (UTC)I have always thought it kinda pitiful than one of the boy's favourite things would be the heating system, but it's a true story.
When we were playing in a pub band in the UK, I was the only gel in the group, and they all had silly nicknames. The Hubs was called The Bassman, the guitarist was El Tel, the drummer Monkey Boy, the sax player was Dickie the Dungeon Master (he was anything but!), and I said I'd be Teddy Radiator, and it stuck!
Plus, it's about 900 times more interesting than my real name. Even the Hubs, doing his best Mr. Rickman imitation (he's not bad), can't make my name sound sexy. so Teddy I is!

...I would never have guessed Teddy Radiator was a rabbit's name.

Date: 2011-01-06 07:22 pm (UTC)I also offered a story for the TPP auction, which Droxy won, and I'm just pleased as punch to be able to write something as a gift to such a special person.
Please see my reply to Mimi - it explains the baffling origin of my name!

Date: 2011-01-06 07:31 pm (UTC)I'm getting ready to send out Chapter 3, as soon as I have another little twiddle. I had ended it, but the Muse decided he wanted a different ending, so I'll get that fixed.
sThank you for your Squeeeeeeeeeee - they are my chocolates with raspberry centres!
This has been the most amazing thing I've ever seen while online. Lots of love and support...incredible. Humbling. Life affirming. COOL.
Sending you loads of Muselove with his Abstract Heart....

Date: 2011-01-07 12:42 am (UTC)Though my own writing muse has been on holiday for some years now, taken over by the acting muse has been front and center, along with the performer - voice, dance. It keeps us very busy and happy, acting out scenes, still photo shoots, always tweaking presentation, embodying the character.

Date: 2011-01-07 10:21 am (UTC)Anyway, I should say get used to the attention. We're a friendly lot in our little corner of the fandom, and as I mentioned even before dA went into self-destruct mode, we always like to find promising new talent.

Date: 2011-01-07 01:18 pm (UTC)I should be uploading my other fics to TPP as well. I seem to have a completely different audience over there, and I want as much input as possible from as many sources as possible.
It's lovely to be here. The feedback is so varied and encouraging, and having old friends like Sempraseverus (whom I hero worship to the point of irritation, I'm sure!), Droxy and Mimi and several others I met on dA, plus this incredible array of new friends has really been a blessing in disguise.
I really do wish dA would at least acknowledge my appeal. They are supposed to give you a reply within 4 days, and it's day 4 now, so we'll see. In the meantime, have a great day.

Date: 2011-01-09 05:29 pm (UTC)Thanks for everything. I have never seen the likes of what has happened to me on this website, nor have I ever heard of such an overwhelming response. I'm so moved and humbled by the outpouring of love and support. It just blows my mind. I ask other friends if they'd every experienced anything like it, and none have.
I've never thought of myself as anything special or unique or overly talented (Jack of all trades, master of none), but I sure feel differently here. I'll try to catch with you next week.
