Be gentle with me, but I guess I should know already.

If I made Cinderella, the audience would immediately be looking for a body in the coach. —Alfred Hitchcock

When I write a story, what do readers immediately look for?

I look for characters that feel real to me. A main character that I can identify with in some way. Yes, of course I know what you're thinking: that everyone expects smut. And of course, we do like some. But the operative word is SOME. Anyone one can write the "insert tab A into slot B" type of erotic situation. But YOU put it into context. It doesn't just come out of nowhere for the gratuitous thrill. We get to know and love the characters first. THAT is paramount. So when they do, inevitably, come together *sophomoric snicker*, it is so much more meaningful than if we hadn't gotten to know them. And also there is the way you phrase things. It's not flowery purple prose, and it's not clinical. It's your own style. It's Teddy.

Thanks, babe. I know everyone wants to write something of substance, and I don't mind a little smut, but I would like the characters to be likeable and the story to make some sense ;)
