A Bit Of A Catch Up
Aug. 1st, 2011 07:56 pmWhew, what a week it's been. After LJ tanked on Tuesday, ruining my birthday (just kidding!), I feel like I've done lots (I probably haven't - it just feels that way)
Between me and the Hubs we've managed to record 10 different fics and load them on Dropbox for the
smokingbaby Podfic Project, with the possibility of one more to come eventually.. If anyone wants to have a listen, let me know and I'll give you access to the Dropbox folder. All feedback welcome. Every recording there has been done with the author's permission. I still have two more sections of The Sensual World to record, but everything else is there, including my lovely Hub's reading of Severus' POV in Spellbreaker. I think he does a nice job here.
I've been reading the A Song Of Ice and Fire books. I'm on the last one. Dang, what a wild ride! I like them very much, but the sheer detail of the story is staggering. This is a man who can make a kitchen inventory interesting, not to mention the clothing everyone wears. If you can't imagine this environment, you just aren't trying hard enough.
Still no joy on the job front. I've just got to get aggressive. It's not a matter of what I will or will not do - I'll do anything! The Hubs has a good lead on one - not very good, but the hours and pay are, so it's a fingers crossed moment. I also have a lead, which I'm really hoping to hear back on soon.
Today I got the most amazing little care package from
mimimanderly - the original of my Birthday Severus 'pin-up' (which looks even more juicy in person than on line - I'm not kidding, I mean it. He is suh-weet) - she also added a pack of the most erotically scented incense I've ever burned (patchouli and cloves - the scent of Severus - it's like the man's standing right behind me), and the most beautiful little engraved oriental box you've ever seen. It's got a removable lining as well, so it can hide stuff. Triple digits of my coolometer. Plus I cannot make out the origin point. It looks like 'Made in ? ? X A X'. Any ideas, my learned colleagues?

How cool is this box?
I have been brewing this new original fic that Sempra and I are working on. The name of it is Return to Asheron, and it tells the story of two sisters, told through the eye of their aunt. It is the story of betrayal, lust, power and redemption - and hopefully there's a happy ending in there for someone. It's a bit Sword and Sorcery, with fair maidens, evil wizards, sex and magik. Very rock and roll.
My Exchange fic is a dim and distant memory, and I'm champing at the bit to start reading everyone's. I've never actually written something, then waited to post it, and it's hard to sit on your hands and wait for it.
Chapter 21 of Lay Me Low is in the can; I'm waiting on Jules to get back because she would be so inconsiderate as to go on a two-week holiday right now. Sheesh. Some people. (Seriously, she told me to send it to her anyway, but wouldn't I be the biggest arsehole in the world to send her a 14-page chapter and tell her to have a crack at it while she's sipping G&Ts and otherwise enjoying herself? Yeah, I'm going to send it anyway).
And, or course, like the rest of you, I'm thrilled that we actually are back up and running on LJ.
savine_snape gave me a Dreamwidth account code, (thank you, dear and thanks for being so patient with me about it), so I may use it in future for longer posts.
If I didn't thank you for your Birthday wish, I really apologise and fully blame LJ - I was at one point frantically trying to reply, and no joy, especially to private messages. Either I couldn't read them or I could and was unable to respond, etc. I really appreciated every single well-wish I received,
sempraseverus drawings of naughty Severus, a great montage and phone call from
justpinkpastel , and everyone who just dropped a line to let me know they were thinking of me. All were treasured and cherished.

I'm trying frantically to finish The Sensual World, but it's playing silly buggers with me - isn't that always how it is when you're down to the last one?
Thanks for the job well wishes. I'm praying something shows up very soon!

Date: 2011-08-02 12:42 am (UTC)That is a really cool box. The engraving on it is stunning!
I must tell you that when I was going to call you, I was incredibly nervous. I had to give myself a pep talk for about ten minutes, had to wipe my sweaty palms several times, and paced the room a couple of times before I called you. I was so worried that for some reason you wouldn't like me.
Don't stress yourself out too much on the job front. It will work out, it always does. Just make sure you are being the go-getter that you can be! If I can get a job, anyone can!

Date: 2011-08-02 01:35 am (UTC)I will send you the Dropbox link.
It is a cool little box, though - with a false interior. I'm going to write something and put it under the bottom, so that when I'm dead and gone, someone will discover it. It will be about Dahlra.
