Date: 2011-07-12 05:30 pm (UTC)I know! I keep watching it, and my breath just leaves me when that flash of light (I'm guessing his memories) blows his hair back. I seriously have to step away and compose myself.
Oh, by the way... I SO LOVE YOU! I have a beta. *squishes*

Date: 2011-07-12 04:08 pm (UTC)They predicted really bad weather here tonight by the way. Thunder, rain, the works.
Even the weather, it seems, will be in mourning for him.
Fuck.

Date: 2011-07-12 07:24 pm (UTC)Also, I wonder if Severus will have a portrait in the movie... as he so clearly didn't in the book (which is why I can justify to myself that he didn't die...). JKR said once that Snape didn't get a portrait because he had technically abandonded his post (and I know this is her world, so if anyone would know, it would be her), but I think he would have had one. Hogwarts has always seemed a bit sentient to me, and Snape did his best to protect the students while he was Headmaster. Plus, the castle had to have 'known' about his dealings with Dumbledore. He was a good man, if not a nice man, and I believe the castle would have known.
Ok... I'm done now... :)

Date: 2011-07-12 09:04 pm (UTC)I don't like the fact that, when you read her views on things, it's obvious JKR didn't like the character and any concession to him is so grudging it makes me wonder what dark-haired dark-eyed man jilted her in her youth. Her intense dislike for Snape sounds personal to me. *spoken like a true Snape!whore*

Date: 2011-07-12 10:27 pm (UTC)I find it easier to think of the films as JKR sanctioned fanfiction and actually, I gave up on them after GOF. Whatever 'death' they give Sev in the film, the books remain ambiguous - no body, portrait, funeral etc. which thankfully gives us all lots of room for manoeuvre.
Have you seen the pics of JKRs former Chemistry master btw - the inspiration for Snape? I'd be very surprised if she didn't have the hots for him.

Date: 2011-07-13 01:36 am (UTC)Actually, no, I had not ever seen a photo of him, but I looked him up. I see exactly what you mean. A shame about his passing last March. Yes, I could see it.
I always hear such a grudging acknowledgment of the character in her interviews. I don't know if she's trying to be purposely ambiguous so as not to give the game away (at this late stage), or if she genuinely just doesn't like the character.

Date: 2011-07-13 06:44 am (UTC)And in reference to this comment, Teddy: "it's obvious JKR didn't like the character"
I'd have to agree with you 100%. I remember seeing an interview with JKR shortly after DH (the book) was released ( I went back through and found the quote) and she was asked 'Was Snape always intended to be a hero?' and her reply floored me because she said, 'Is he a hero? You see, I don't really see him as a hero.'
Dear God, did the woman even read her own books? Does she not see this man as so many of the fans of his character see him?
In another interview early on in the series, she was asked if Snape would fall in love and she responded something like "who on earth would want Snape in love with them. That's a very horrible idea."
Uh... Here, me, me!!! I'll take him.:D
