Feeling remarkably calmer and serene right now. No real change in the situation, but I don't feel so mashed down by itStoday. All your good vibes and karma have come home to roost, and I send it back to you as fast as I can.

I set up a Facebook account today. Please feel free to friend me. When you set up, it asks if you wish to friend everyone in you email account, so I just recklessly said yes, not thinking I should ask first. I really need to stop being so impulsive and start being a little more considerate.

I finally fixed the latest chapter of Lay Me Low and sent it to Ashwinder (I think it was a record - only 5 mistakes, but they were so glaring a monkey in English 101 would have spotted them), and I was a little trepidacious, but the reivews were ecstatic. I'm at a real impasse with this story, and I have promised myself I would never leave one, but I need to write a bridging chapter and it just won't allow itself to be written.

I plan to tidy up today. We've got mattresses lying around in the front room, waiting for us to get Kat's room ready for hers and James' trip from the UK next month. Right now, we look like a white trash yard sale waiting to happen.

I'm in a crafty mood. Y'all are so creative, and I see things here that just inspire the pants off me, and I haven't a clue where to start .I think it might be time for another scrapbook (Yes, I'm one of those). I did a really cool one for the band I used to be in with the Hubs (If you are up for a giggle, you can visit their website and see pics of me in my last lifetime, playing the piano and singing backing vox and I think one of my songs is still on their sample play at the bottom of the page. The band is Road Dog Jackson, and they still play in the UK. Sorry, shameless ego trip over!)

Yes, a scrapbook. Or a picture book on Lulu.com. I don't know. Something to do with my hands. Droxy's challenge story is percolating along nicely, about 13K words so far, just getting started. This might end up being a a right old story. And, no, Droxy, I won't kill Snape. He might end up killing me eventually, but I'm not gonna kill him. I will, however, make him suffer. He does it so beautifully under my whip!

The Ectopics are easing off a bit, and that makes me feel physically better. I seem to remember feeling almost high when they stopped a few years back when it got so bad. I guess the body was so relieved to be back to normal I sort of felt like I had runner's high or the JBL endorphins.

The snow is over, but there is still a huge amount of ground cover at our house. It looks like massive sheets of Lallique glass, all shiny and iridescent. It's already 41 degrees, so I don't see it lasting much longer, but it was pretty while it lasted, even though it cost us. The cats are restless and bored, and have spent the morning staring moodily out at the snow or swatting at each other, real 'handbags at dawn' stylee.

Well, I haven't insulted Irishredlass in a couple of days, so I'm off to fire up the Keurig and have a pod coffee to her health, and see if I can't channel some of this restless energy into something physical. Pancakes, I think, may be the breakfast of choice for the day.

LOL I am immune to your pedestrian coffee abuse *sits and sips Obsidian fresh ground coffee and thinks of you in pity*. You do not know what GOOD coffee is.

One of my RL friends is a scrap-booking fanatic. She has one for each year of her marriage, at least two a piece filled of her stepsons, and I don't know how many others. I cannot go into a craft store with her without spending at least an hour in the scrapbook isles, but then she indulges me in my yarn fetish too; so all is good.

Happy to hear you are feeling better =)

Yes, I got a notification that you friended me at Facebook; I no longer use that account, so don't feel bad if I don't friend you there. I tried it for a couple weeks a few years ago and didn't like it. Unfortunately, Facebook is like the Hotel California. I stopped my account, but anytime you go to Facebook, it restarts your account. So when my husband tried to open an account, he couldn't because it kept re-opening mine and wouldn't accept him. He only wanted it to ogle the young women he works with anyway, so I told him to just go ahead and ogle on my account. Why, yes... that IS creepy! There probably is a way to fix it, but he's not very computer savvy and may very well break the internet if he tries to fix it himself. And I have better things to do than enable him to look at nubile young girls. Like ogle Snape.

Oh, yes, ogling Snape is one of my favourite pastimes. . I forgot that Monday is MLJ Jr. day, so the package won't be shipped until Tuesday. That's okay, though. I just keep finding stuff to put in the box. I love putting together little things like this. As a good friend of mine once said, 'I don't have a pot to pi$$ in, but I love giving gifts.'...

Indeed! I love giving gifts. Why do I NOT celebrate Christmas, then, you ask? Because I only like to give gifts when they are unexpected. I don't like Hallmark or our economic indicators telling me when I MUST buy gifts! This is why I didn't do well at DA... I refuse to follow rules... especially arbitrary ones.

Exactly, Mimi darling. I just love giving things. There is such pleasure in choosing something and thinking, "I think she'll really get pleasure from this" or "He is going to die laughing about this." We have some friends who are real gourmets and every other Sunday we get together and cook a meal and play board games - they host one, we host the other. They are amazing cooks, and he's always thumbing through my cookbooks, so I gave him a cookbook where all the recipes are made with semen - it's a legit cookbook! Needless to say, though, now I'm afraid to eat over there.

Semen? A legitimate cookbook? OMG! *dies laughing*

Well, it IS a good source of protein and has very few calories.

And I'd probably prefer it to tofu.

It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Tofu? Oh yeah, I know what you mean. And it gives tips on what to consume to give it a *ahem!* better flavour (cinnamon and ginger root apparently give it a more piquant flavour). But, you know, it's the lack of intimacy that would put me off - I mean, how do I KNOW I'm going to enjoy that particular vintage if I haven't tried it before?

Did I just sodding type that?????

Perhaps you should host a semen tasting. That'll get the neighbors talking!

"This one has a sweatsock-like bouquet and yet it has a piquant zing of ginger root and cinnamon."

I'm laughing like a knucklehead... I'm going to have to save that little gem for Master Hamilton (the recipient of the cookbook). He will be laughing as hard as me!

I must find a way to put that in a story - that's just too fantastic to not immortalise.

Oh, Mimi darling, you have made me laugh like a drain....

I really, really need to get into the habit of checking the updates on Ashwinder. If only they'd send out emails like OWL when a favourite gets updated. Of course you've mentioned in LJ when you've updated but by the time I go through FL goldfish brain forgets again.

I iz lazy but I will catch up sooner or later once I have a working brain again.

Growls! Well, I tried. I got to the end of chapter 2 and went to review but then it couldn't find the review submission page, or the last posted chapter, or the link to see what your response to my comments on the earlier chapters... Looks like the whole site is temporarily down. I'll be back in the morning, hon!

No worries, Tales - I'm glad you're enjoying it. It's the first WIP I've ever posted, so I feel a real pressure to make each chapter better than the last, and I'm getting a little freaked out about it, but I know where the story is going to go.

Date: 2011-01-17 08:36 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] talesofsnape.livejournal.com
Lol! It just isn't possible to make every chapter better than the preceding one. Making it as good can even be difficult sometimes, if there are parts of the story which need to be told but perhaps aren't as high drama as others. Just listen to your muse and take it as it comes.

Pod coffee? I'd weep except that I stopped drinking coffee and so probably can't talk.

But *pod coffee*? Noooo....

I have piles of scrapbooking stuff waiting to be used, and no time to use it. I hardly have time to write the fics I already owe to people either. Yet I keep wanting to sign up for fests. Arg. But I know the need to do something craftsy.

Even Teh Dark Lord Voldemort shrinks at the thought of giving people pod coffee to drink.

He much prefers a nice Earl Grey, you know. ;)

Aw, I'll come and drink tea there! If you can reach it by train from Connecticut, that is. Otherwise I'll come in spirit.

How's the snow treated YOU? :-P

New Haven!

Not too badly. I don't have to drive and I stayed inside the day it snowed. Now it's just a bit annoying. :) But it was pretty the first day.

I actually just did it because TPP said they had an active FB site, and I didn't want to use my real name site because it's so boring. All family stuff, really. I like Teddy a lot better than Tracy.

Thank you, hun. I'll be fine. I've done a little writing and that always makes me feel good, especially when I look back on it and think, yeah, it doesn't sound forced or false. If I can feel I've accomplished something, I feel better!

OMG! Is that you singing Queen? Too cool, teddy!

Glad to hear you're feeling better and the writing is coming along. And don't worry about offending Irish with your coffee maker. She doesn't like my Cuisinart Coffee on Demand either. ;)

Thanks, I was just on the backing vox on that - we did record a couple of songs with me singing lead, but they aren't on the site - I'll upload them onto youtube one of these days, when I figure out how.

I just love giving Irish a hard time about coffee. She's yucked my Keurig from day one, so I have to get a dig in every once in awhile!
