[livejournal.com profile] akatnamedeaster tagged me in this two-part meme, and who am I to refuse? Besides, I need to be working on Promptfest and I'm too tired to wash dishes.

Favorite Character: I love Severus Snape, because physically he resembles someone very dear to me. I usually end up writing him slightly OOC, because I tend to focus on his vulnerabilities more than his weaknesses. I once heard him referred to as the ‘little black dress of fandom’, and I tend to agree. I’ve seen him paired with more characters than pretty much any other (besides Charlie Weasley).

Which house? According to the latest sorting - Hufferin: You love animals, your family, and being a part of a team. But while you’re known for being loyal and easy to get along with, that doesn’t mean you’re not ambitious or willing to take risks when the situation calls for it. People might mistake you for a pushover because of your easy demeanor, but they’d be dead wrong.

Patronus? Probably a bear.

Favourite class? Transfiguration, then Charms.

Would you make to the Quidditch team? Hell to the no.

If you do, which position? I would barely qualify for cheerleader. Just the idea of climbing all those steps up to the stands is enough to put me off.

Favourite teacher? I think I would like Flitwick or Sprout. I think Pomona would be a hoot when drunk.

First or second Dumbledore? We were just talking about this today. I’m no fan of either, to be honest. Richard Harris played him too doddery, Gambon played him too chilly. I’m not a huge fan of the book Dumbledore either. I think he was a manipulative bastard disguised as a sweet old guy.

Least favourite character? I know this will win me no popularity contests, but I’m not a fan of either Molly Weasley. I think Molly was a domineering woman who badgered her kids too much. I’m not that surprised Percy did a runner.

Most useful spell? Apparation, no doubt. I hate having to spend long hours traveling. I want to get somewhere.

Have you ever written in an unusual place? Oklahoma?

The word/phrase you know you overuse, but can’t get rid of. I love to refer to a gorgeous arse as heart-shaped, and the ‘saddle’ between a woman’s thighs. I have a lot of phrases I use too much – I’d be here until Sunday writing them all down.

Do you keep notes? Do you have a notebook? Only when I think of something important and I know I can’t get to the computer to write it in the story. I have great intentions of journaling, but I never quite get to it. I hate to write longhand for one thing; it makes my hands hurt. I’d much rather put things down here.

What’s the hardest part of a fic to write for you? The synopsis. I’m convinced my poor synopsis writing has turned off more than one potential agent.

Have you ever based something in your fic on your personal experience? What was it? Yes. It was life-changing at the time, and it was life-changing to the character it happened to as well. It’s in my novel. You’ll have to read it to find it out.

What’s that one fic you want to write but somehow know you never will? How will I know? I haven’t started writing it yet.

What do you usually do when you procrastinate? Fill out memes like this one.

What’s the funniest typo you’ve made? I was attempting to write, “He smirked.” Somehow it came out, “He smirkled.” I also wrote, “He removed her bar, revealing her breasts.”

Do you listen to music when you write? No, it’s too distracting. I do listen to Binaural beats all the time, though. They really help my concentration.

Your favorite comment a reader has left on your fic? Any comment by [livejournal.com profile] hbart is going to be wonderful.

One of my favourites was from a reader named Sararia on Ashwinder for Lay Me Low: “Oh, Teddy... This is the tale that taught me about second chances. About sheer stubborn dogged faith that somehow things will work out right. Every word thrums with life and light and - most of all - unadulterated love. Every sentence pulses with the power of your bond with your muse. Every turn of phrase shines blindingly with passion and the perfection of your surrender to creation. You, my dear, are a wonder of this world. Thank you for sharing this piece of your soul with us. I will hold it safe in my heart, because it is beautiful and lovely and true. Gods all bless you - Gods all bless your Muse - Be well ~S~”

You don’t get a review like that and walk away unmoved by it.

I think he was a manipulative bastard disguised as a sweet old guy.

I remain amazed at how so many people see this character differently.

The way I look at Dumbledore is this: I think he had a hard job to do and wasn't afraid to compromise people until they had no choice to do what he wanted. The ends justified any means to him. He was revered, but in many ways, I think he was just as driven, just as relentless, just as ruthless as Voldemort.

Again, just my two cents. As you say, he's a character that has so many facets people see him very differently.

"The saddle" between a woman's thighs is my absolute FAVORITE description of arousal. When I first read it, it was like YES, EXACTLY, THIS IS HOW IT IS FOR ME, TOO!! It just nailed it, and I've never heard it described better. I loved learning more about you, Teddy! ❤️

Thanks, sweetie! You should fill this meme out too - you could substitute art/photography for writing, but it would be an awesome way for folks to learn more about you as well. ♥

Smirkled. Oh, my gosh I laughed so hard!

I'm going to smirkle more often.

Aww, aren't you sweet. Rest assured when I read your original fic, I'm gonna have a shit ton of things to say about it. I have such faith in you, that I already love it, having not even read a word. 🙂

I had a good laugh at your answer of "Oklahoma." Not what I would have expected from that question, but I can't deny that the answer fits. And now I feel like smirkled is going to catch on. First I'll start seeing it all over fanfic, and then it will become one of those words which are added to the dictionary each year. Then I'll be preening like, "Yeah, I totally know the girl who created the smirkle."

I happen to have a little higher opinion of both Dumbledore and Molly than you do, but I do know where you are coming from. Somehow, I feel like they are opposite versions of one another. Molly nit picks the hell out of her kids, and nags them in all manner of things. But, at the end of the day, should a person try to harm one little ginger hair, Mama bear will emerge and the attacker won't be long for this world. Dumbledore, on the other hand, always seemed like a father figure. In different ways to different characters, he is supporting, teaching, defending, nurturing, welcoming etc. But at zero hour when the stakes are highest, he may forget a person was "family" and toss them aside if it serves his purpose.

I do love how everyone sees the characters a little bit (and some times a lot bit) differently, and I suppose that is what lends to such a wide variety of fanfic.

You are such a delight - Oklahoma! Lol
I personally don't love Molly Weasley either. I adore Julie Walters, tho. I like the idea of her, but ugh - I felt smothered by her just reading the damn books - couldn't imagine being part of her family!

Mmmm agree re Molly! I liked her up until the thing about Hermione and Molly just marking her as this scarlet girl. Ridiculous and put me off her completely. She's one character that I often prefer to read about in fanfic over canon, as some flesh her out enough to redeem her.
