Sometimes A Picture Just Hits Me That Way

Every once in awhile, I will see a drawing that just moves me so much I have to share it with friends. This one, Knave of Spades, by Sigune, is nothing new to most of us, but I just thought it worth a rec just for the heck on it. Everything about this picture touches me, from his exhausted face, to the little frog embellishments on his lovely sleeves. It is the portrait of a man on his last legs, and it touches me right in my heart.

There is a lovely ascetic bleakness to this, isn't there? The winter trees, the posture, even the resignation in the way he holds the sword, all tell the story.

I'm so glad you liked it - I'm relatively new to fanfiction (only about a year), so many of the things I'm just discovering are well known and loved by the folks here already. It's always great finding a lovely piece of art. My two best friends, Sempraseverus and Mimimanderly, are here on LJ, and they are amongst the best Severus artists in the world, IMHO. Both draw Severus in an intensely personal way.

She must love robes, because she draws stunning dress robes, everyday robes, even almost clerical looking robes. And she also does some stonking SS/MM art as well. I just love her stark, angular characters.
