SED - 27 October 2013

Well, I'm really falling down at the last few hurdles of SED, aren't I? Last night I had an excuse. I was sitting in here, typing away, when suddenly TheHubs(r) says, "There's a mouse!"

Now, I reacted the way you'd expect a person to react who owns a cat named "Mouse", which was to more-or-less ignore him, until I realised he was saying A mouse, not Mouse the cat. I turned around, and sure enough, there was a little mouse staring at us with a heavy dose of "oh shit" in its little beady eyes. We spent most of the night trying to catch it. We didn't.

Anyway, by the time we were tired and I had a cramp in my neck and we decided to close off the room and try to entice it with cheese, I forgot to do my SED. Which is probably just as well, as negative as so many of them have been this month.

I made a really good beef stew yesterday - threw in every vegetable known to man, and let it simmer in the crockpot all day. Irish, you'll be happy to know I took a leaf from your book and froze the rest, so we will have some lovely leftovers this week.

I actually did a little writing yesterday before the Great Mouse Hunt, so I hope to continue today, after we go and fetch some mouse traps.

Tell me about it! We have three of the lazy little buggers. Bosco, our real Mouser, had a stroke and isn't on his game anymore, Mouse is very near-sighted and can't see them well enough to catch them (and he's old to boot), and Sevvy... well, Sevvy would see it as something to play with, then let go. We don't stand a chance.

I think the mice are paying them off. Check under their kitty mattresses for money or catnip or whatever....

With three cats hanging around that is one ballsy mouse, you would think the smell of that many felines (not saying your house smells like cats but a mouse could definitely smell them) that the local rodent population would steer well clear even if none of them are particularly hunter material.

The Mouse: "Will you humans knock it off with the cheese already! You're stereotyping us, and, quite frankly, we resent it. Some of us have even been talking about getting together and hiring a lawyer to bring a class action suit against humans. As if the cheese thing wasn't offensive enough, don't even get me STARTED on the sticky tape! It's barbaric! Personally, I prefer bits of those Snickers bars you humans fancy. My friend Nigel prefers toast with marmite. *rolls little beady eyes* the poser!"

I am not sure what Potion would make of a mouse... I think he would try to catch it possibly, based on what he has done to a few occasional rogue insects ;-)
