Okay! Today is my first Something Every Day for the month, and it's been a good start. Loads of positive things have happened today. Big and little. October is my favourite month - bar none. I love the colours of Autumn, the smell of woodsmoke, the crisp bite in the early morning air, the winding down of the year as it takes a deep breath to prepare for winter.

Her Minder chapter 24 is in the vault, and 25 is going to be finishing up this weekend in preparation for the promptfest. [livejournal.com profile] stgulik and I had a great brainstorming session this past weekend, and she helped me to clear up a plot problem I had. I think the kinks are, if not ironed out, at least beaten into submission, as all good kinks should be.

I finally found some decent makeup - or rather my Mother did. It's the Boots No. 7 matt makeup line, and it goes on like silk and covers really well without looking like makeup. TheHubs(r) is not one for heavy makeup, but with the Adult Acne coming on, I'm vain enough to want something that will cover it. I actually wore it today, and it was hours later that he peered at me and said, "Are you wearing that makeup? It looks really natural." Result.

Camp 9 3/4 is coming up, and while I'm not going and have no desire to rough it, I would love to see all my friends. I will have to make do with wishing you all a really great time and hope that you don't end up having to squat over a hole in the ground to wee. I just hate it when that happens, don't you? As you can tell, I am not a camping sort of person. I'd go insane and take all my friends with me if I went.

A friend send me a real treat this week - the full HP Audiobook series, unabridged, read by Stephen Fry. I started at the beginning, as one should. It's been years since I've read PS, and it made me realise just how kiddie it was. By the time DH comes along (and my writing era), everyone's a lot more grown up, including the adults. It's also amazing how much like Robbie Coltrane Fry sounds reading Hagrid - until you realise that he recorded PS several years before the films were made. So in essence, Coltrane is imitating Fry.

I've been on a yoghurt/Grape Nuts kick lately. It's been my preferred way of eating both items since the 80's. Imagine my bemusement when they started packaging yogurt with Grape Nuts and other crunchy items as an add-on in later years. Note: Yoplaits seasonal yoghurts - the Apple Crisp is delicious. The Pumpkin Pie is revolting. No one is sorrier than me - I love pumpkin in all its forms. This, however, is a MISS. Tonight's offering is Banana Cream, and tastes pretty good.

It occurs to me I've got loads of other stuff to share, but I'd better keep some back for those days we have where not much happens to look forward to writing about.  I will leave you with a sexy little ditty by Randall Bramblett, which will hopefully make you smile and give in to an urge to shake your moneymaker around the house.

Hugs to all who needs 'em! Mwah!

i'm not a big one for camping either. i kind of like the idea of being out in nature, but the roughing it aspect is completely unappealing. however, a nice cabin with a bathroom, and i'm all over it. ;)

lots of good stuff in your post. i would love those audio books.

okay, i will do the sed too.

I love camping! I wish we had got to do more this summer but it seemed like there was always something else going on.

I do agree that fall is a lovely time of year. I like the cooler temps and lower humidity. The leaves are starting to change here, it should be gorgeous in another week or so. :)

I've never been camping, but I don't have to experience something to know that I would not like it. Imagination serves me well in that respect. I DO like hiking in the woods... cooking outdoors... it's just the sleeping outdoors and crapping in the woods that doesn't sit well with me. Mosquitoes fucking ADORE me for some reason, and I would go completely crazy and swell up and itch. It would NOT be fun for me.

Congrats on finding the makeup! I know how difficult it is. If the formulation is good, they don't have the right color, and vice versa. And the search never ends completely; as one's skin ages and changes, so must one's makeup. But knowing one looks good goes a long way toward making one FEEL good.

While I love autumn, I really like bearable temperatures. Like 20-25 Celsius. More is too hot, less is too cool for my taste.

I listened to Stephen Fry's reading HP one week at work. Gods, that week passed so quickly. Thankfully, my boss didn't care that I had my headphones on, just that I did all my work (and then some).

Yogurt and grape nuts (or "gravel" as he lovingly refers to it) has been S's preferred school lunch entree for years. One day he just asked me to stop making him sandwiches and give him that instead. It's pretty healthy so I don't see why not!

My wonderful grandpa and step-grandma (a dear friend and mentor closer to me than my own mom) live down in Brevard, NC. We are planning to visit them sometime in the next year - perhaps I could arrange a sojourn to your neck of the woods? Only if you'd like, of course :)

Yay! I'm so glad you think so! My grandparents are wonderful folks. When I was a wee teenager they took me to England, Scotland, and British Columbia, trips which truly changed my life. They invited B and I to come down for a visit long before my mother was even speaking to me on the subject, and since our first trip have begged us to return with kids in tow. Also I hear they have a haul of camping equipment for me!

The thought of meeting up with you gives me a great big warm fuzzy! I hope we can do it sooner rather than later :)
