Catching Up
Mar. 19th, 2013 09:58 pmWell, I thought I'd do the SED, but I didn't count of feeling so ill. I will wait another time to start on it, when I am a little better. It's hard to think of something positive when I don't feel well. So I'll just do what I can.
We have come to the conclusion that we didn't get food poisoning but a stomach bug which is floating around. It has left us both absolutely feeling drained. We missed work, which we have to make up this week, but we are taking it easy. I felt absolutely fine until it happened, but now I'm just exhausted and depressed. I know I will bounce back, but I haven't felt this low in over a year.
It's strange when so many good things are happening, but I'm just going to keep carrying on. Another chapter of the final edit of the novel is in 'the Vault', and I think I'll have my costume done by the end of the month. April will be for honing my talk and putting together a powerpoint presentation.
The Hubs and I have been talking about writing a musical. Don't laugh; it's not as far-fetched as you think. We belong to the Foothills Songwriter's Guild, and one of the main objectives of the Guild is to write collaborations and larger bodies of work. It all started when I wrote a song that I was absolutely proud of, which the boys liked, but which Chris said, "This sounds like a song from a musical." I realised he was right. I'm not going to go into any great detail, because we won't even be able to start with it until July, but we already have a storyline. There are groups here who would be willing to perform the songs, and we do have one friend who might allow us to perform it with his school. Watch this space. These are all big ifs, but something has me really thinking about it.
I'll leave you with this delightful little video about the origins of one of our most beloved userpic bases: Keep Calm and Carry On. And who wouldn't want to wile away their days in this glorious bookshop?
Sorry to be such a downer, and I see (non-contagious) hugs to you all.

Date: 2013-03-20 04:08 am (UTC)and i would never laugh about writing a musical - i cowrote a bunch of songs for a musical once. i can't remember whether the guy who asked us to do it ended up doing anything with them, though. :( i will be excited to see what develops on that front, even if it won't be for months.

Date: 2013-03-20 09:01 pm (UTC)I have never in my life had any desire to write a musical until now. But I think I might give it a try.
I'm with Toby - that is a mighty userpic.

Date: 2013-03-21 04:11 pm (UTC)That video is very cool! I've always liked the icon variations, but just thought the original had been around forever - interesting to know its history, and that it was almost lost.
Musicals are some of my favorite things ever, and if you weren't already totally high in my esteem, this is just raising you that much higher (you might want to get some nosebleed protection, just in case). **hugs**

Date: 2013-03-21 04:50 pm (UTC)I feel the tug to start the musical, but I don't know if I have the discipline to see it through - it's a huge committment, and I would like to think I do have it within me. I have a lot of other goals to meet as well, so we'll see what happens after Con. I know I'll need another 'something' to look forward to after that, so this might be the very thing.
