Some SSHG Exchange Goodies to Pimp

AS for all SSHG shippers, the sshg_exchange  is the equivalent to the World Cup for me, and I've been eagerly devouring each and every gift. While the entire Exchange is a treat, every now and then a fic or two will stand out for me, and I have to mention them and encourage even my non-SSHG shippers to give them a go.

Two such fics have posted just a few days apart - one of them is christev's gift, Between The Stars, an incredibly touching story of devotion and guilt and loneliness which left me smiling through my tears. One of the most moving fics I've ever read about the need to enshrine our heroes, and why this can be more about our own feelings than the heroes we worship.

The next fic takes a 360 degree turn in the guise of a doughnut dug into the wet ground from four squealing tires.  jadeandjuniper's gift  Drive! could not be more different from Between the Stars, but just as heartily recommended. It's a fast-paced, wild, sexy, white-knuckled ride in Snape's taxi, and it's everything you want in a thrown-caution-to-the-winds quickie -  dirty, frantic, sleazily tawdry, smokin' hot and leaving you in need of a cigarette at the end.

These two fics, in their vastly different ways, just serve as a small reminder why this ship is one of the most intelligent, logical, well-written and enjoyable pairings in Potterverse.

I absolutely freaking ADORED Drive! for so very many reasons! Finally got some free time to read today, so I'm on my way over to Between the Stars. I'll grab the Kleenex box on the way just in case, thanks to your description.

I'm dashing through LJ posts of the last week or so, and came across this. I'm so pleased that you recced my gift fic. I absolutely loved it, and was in seventh heaven when it posted - except for the fact that it posted on a travel day, which meant that I had to stop right in the middle of it to fly back home!

I also LOVED Drive! I always love Snape in Muggle situations, and this one was a doozy! The Mystery Author gave him such an air of borderline darkness, yet without tipping him completely over that edge.

I've got to hand it to the authors in the Exchange this year - it's been an absolutely terrific year for great fic and art!
