Reccing a previous recommendation - Scenes From An Occupation, from [livejournal.com profile] snapecase.

This is a perfect storm of storytelling, poetry and emotion. This author has an absolute gift of language. Over and over, even as my heart was being pummeled by the story itself, I found myself swooning over a beautifully-written line and thinking, "Oh, why can't I write something this perfect?"

It's a scene from one of my favourite and most difficult parts of the story - the last year, when Snape is in charge of Hogwarts, the Carrows are using it as their own House of Horrors, and Minerva McGonnagal is in the most impossible position - trying to protect her students, and learning to live with the fact that her former colleague and friend is on the side of the darkness.

This MA has plonked the reader right down in the middle of this time, and the atmosphere between Snape and Minerva pushing every compelling/repellent fetish button I own, and finds a couple I didn't realise I had. It is beautiful and heartbreaking and perfectly in character. Even if you aren't a fan of the MM/SS ship, read it for its sheer poetry. JKR only wishes she could write with this grace and beauty.
