Gratitude? There Are Angels Posing As Perfectly Normal Human Beings....

I am often amazed how the world works. About a year ago, the Hubs was in a play with another gentleman named Gary. The entire cast got along well, and it was a fun experience. About a week ago, Gary called the Hubs with a request. He is in a new play and has to use a British accent, and he asked if the Hubs wouldn't mind meeting him over lunch and give him a lesson or two in the finer points of sounding British.

They agreed to meet today, and Gary bought lunch, and they had a very enjoyable two hours working on the fine turning of Gary's British accent. As they left, Gary told the hubs how beneficial the session had been. The Hubs thanked him for buying lunch, and Gary pressed an envelope in his hand. "I won't take no for an answer," he said, and they parted.

In the car, my husband opened the envelope. It contained one thousand dollars. When asked if there had been a mistake, Gary said, "No. I'm a blessed man, and I know the last four months have been tough and stressful. What's the point of being blessed if you can help out your friends?"

We're still crying. Gratitude seems like such an inadequate word at this point.

I feel so blessed in so many ways, but this one really hit us left of field. I try to stay on karma's good side, because I know what comes around goes around (for awhile, I was the poster child for that!), and this was just a wonderful thing we weren't expecting in the least. The hubs had left yesterday saying, "I'm not going to charge Gary anything for lessons - I mean, it's Gary!" We're still just blown away by it.
