I have to say the news from
lovedraughts that the
sshg_exchange will start posting on September 6 excited me more than Pottermore ever dared to try. Being my first time, I'm so jazzed at the idea of all these lovely fics and art. I am very grateful for the Mods at the exchange and all the hard work they've done on our behalf. I'm also blown away on a weekly basis at how comprehensive lovedraughts are in putting together all the lovely SS/HG news. I love my fandom brothers and sisters.
I am also grateful I start my first day training tomorrow. Yes, after four months of doing nothing but walking from the kitchen to the writing nook and back, I'm starting my new job, and I'm thrilled and nervous and excited. The lady who will be training me personally got me this job, and she so wants me to be successful.
I have spent the better part of two weeks working on one particular fic, and I'm proud of it. It started off as a little whispered smut fic from my Muse one morning, and by the end of the day, I'd written over 6K words on it. I spent the next week fleshing out his original 6K words. Now it is over three times that length, and a work that has stretched me in a couple of directions. I love this exercise I was given to make me better and to help me improve.
What a week. I got a job, lived through my first earthquake tremours, received a lovely dead bird from my cat who promptly yakked most of it back up on my laminate floor, we are thankfully too far south and inland for the storm to hurt us, and the Hubs has a job lead as well. Life is not too shabby...
But the Exchange!!! I'm go excited I can't wait! Fics! Pics! Arts! Can you say Happy Little Fangurly??? Yes, that would be me!!!! Big hugs to all that needs 'em.
I've been given some steller ones this week from y'all. All the best to those caught in the path of Irene. My heart and wishes are with you.

Date: 2011-08-27 05:53 am (UTC)Dittos all the things you said about the mods, lovedraughts, the fandom, etc.
Congrats again on starting the new job training tomorrow, if you can't win the lotto and be independently wealthy then a job is a very good thing. :)
And if the fic you are referring to is 'Delores Umbridge, I Love You', it was a sweet little smut-with-substance fest all of it's own. Many thanks to you and your muse for sharing.
And in case anyone has forgotten already, the exchange is coming!

Date: 2011-08-27 12:27 pm (UTC)Thank you about 'DoloresU' as well. Something about that strange little bundle of madness has really picked me up and shook me in its jaws. It really was supposed to be about 4 sections of smut, but something very strange happened between receiving the first 6K of it, and typing The End. You never know what will happen in a fic, do you?
Oh, and in case you might have missed it ---- The Exchange is coming!!!

Date: 2011-08-27 10:57 am (UTC)And this nerd didn't even apply to
PotterwhorePottermore. What's all the kerfuffle about anyway? Is she going to make a statement about how Snape survived to make lots of babies?Ah, I though not....;-)

Date: 2011-08-27 11:02 am (UTC)I didn't apply either. I figured it's all about Hogwarts and the Golden Trio, and quite frankly, I'm not interested in them. If it were called Snapewhore... well, obviously I'd be chained to my computer day and night, trying to get in!

Date: 2011-08-27 11:06 am (UTC)My arse is not really that impressive, I figure. But I'm in a difficult position to judge, seeing as my head is on top of my body and everything (kekekeke)
Snapewhore! Now that's a site I'd pay money for! We'd all be trying to get into Snape. Mmmmmmm.

Date: 2011-08-28 06:51 am (UTC)But I still think about flinging myself across the USA in exchange for art. But only to select people. I'll let the better half drive me around, like the sarcastic princess I am.
What's the best flight-connection to your neck of the woods? ;-)

Date: 2011-08-27 03:25 pm (UTC)I'm excited about the Exchange beginning to post. Squeeeeeeees with you! I have DeloresU on my list of stories to begin reading, just haven't had time to get to it yet. This past week was very busy for me, and nothing went like planned, but everything ended up just like it should be.
I hope the job lead for Hubs pans out. I have a good feeling that he will find something he likes in the not too distant future.
Hugs to you both.

Date: 2011-08-27 10:23 pm (UTC)Jules is beta-ing DoloresU for posting on Ashwinder, so you may want to read it there. I didn't plan on it getting so huge, or I wouldn't have clogged up LJ posting all 122 chapters of it LOL. It took off and I had to hold on for dear life. Jules will whip it into shape, I know.
Hugs to you, BeffeySue!!

Date: 2011-08-27 03:41 pm (UTC)I've come to the firm conclusion that my Pottermore letter will arrive just as the SSHG Exchange begins since that would, of course, be the most inconvenient time for me to go play. I'm a bit wary as the sorting hat on the site is being reported as rather odd. I'm a dyed in the wool Hufflepuff and I'd get rather tetchy if sorted into Gryffindor. Slytherin is a lovely second option and Ravenclaw would be fine, but I'm most definitely NOT a Gryffindor. Timid as a little mouse, am I. A well read, sneaky mouse, but a mouse none the same.
Good to know Irene won't be harming you on her mad dash up the Eastern seaboard!

Date: 2011-08-27 07:37 pm (UTC)Never felt earthquake before? I first felt it when I was 10, and it was Easter and it shcared the hell out of me. But luckily, they were just minor tremors.
And I'm glad that Irene will not be visiting you (or at least won't cause any major problems). I don't think I could handle a tornado...
As for the exchange: Hell, yes!! I can't wait to see all the lovely art and read all those stories.
