I'm very grateful. Lots and lots of gratitudinals. Reviews for Lay Me Low are sitting at 598 - I'm two reviews away from a milestone. I don't think my other fics combined have garnered so many responses. Well, it is a helluva long fic. Law of averages says it will have more reviews, but I am still honestly blown away by the reception this odd story has gleaned. And only one flame. Well, that's astounding, I think, anyway. I'm grateful that there are still people who like what I write. Good job, too. I'd be well and truly f#*ked if they didn't.

I'm grateful I still have a little money in the bank. A little. I'm grateful for the promising job lead (if the person who is supposed to call will call me back). I'm grateful for the time I have to write, and I'm grateful for a Muse who is determined to watch me type my fingers off while I have a lot of free time. I'm grateful some people liked my voice reading their fic for [livejournal.com profile] mischievous_t 's Hufflehugs project (I haven't forgotten, [livejournal.com profile] miamadwyn - I just had a bit of a scratchy throat and didn't want to sound like George C. Scott reading the next three chapters, but I promise to get them to you very soon!

Hmm, what else? Marmite, hot fudge sauce, the little birthmark above the Hub's rather nice bum, my songwriter pals, my five senses, the upcoming exchange, and you.

Birthmark, yaay! (That would have to be the word I'd latch onto, hmmm?)

I want to see that flame. I'll poke it with a shark stick.

Oooh, it was a nasty little beastie! And to top it off, when I pointed out that it was a flame, she started emailing me flames! I deleted the last ones without reading them - there seemed no point in allowing her to upset me. The awful thing is that she is on my flist here at LJ, and I would love to remove her, but that would look so tacky on my part, and whereas I don't mind being tacky, I do so hate to get caught in a tackytude.

Re the job lead: If it's something you really want, and if a certain amount of time has elapsed and you haven't heard anything, there is nothing wrong with calling this person "because I'd really like to work here, and I was wondering if you had made a decision". Eagerness is looked favorably upon in the employment world... not so much in the dating world.

Congrats on all your lovely reviews. Even with one flame, you're still doing better than the law of averages allows....

I will pointedly look away while you be tacky for a moment...

Lay Me Low has this lovely, sensual, hypnotic quality to it. I don't quite know how to describe it; It's like trying to describe Alan Rickman's voice, and make a complete and total fic out of it. But it's actually quite funny in my head because I'm like the little boy in Jungle Book when the snake sings Trust In Me to him. I just kind of, get lost, get hypnotized and placidly follow along, hanging on every word. It's quite lovely, this little Imperius Curse of a ficcy you've written...

But that flame... the bitch was delirious, I tell you.

Wow - that's just so lovely - you say the most wonderful things about my stories! I get all mushy and fangurly when you compliment me.

I am such a voice slut, and this fic seems to feed my inner slut on that count. It's going to get a little more intense soon, but I'm dying to write another nice smutty chapter for them. I might have to write a dream sequence or something...

Oh, did you read it? She got even nastier in her email!

I DID read it. I actually had to go see her fic, because you dissed it so badly, and you were SO right. I read her bio on Ashwinder and just shook my head. The woman talks out of both sides of her mouth! How could she flame you when she writes bad parodies herself? I don't know about some people.
