Some Days, I'm Glad I Got Out Of Bed
Jan. 21st, 2011 06:38 pmToday has been a day of amazing things. We were absolutely overrun with customers today (it's been a pretty good week), and that was great enough, but then the Hubs came in and handed me a check for $75. I am part of a Songwriter's Guild, and I'd won Second Place for a song I'd written. They have quarterly contests, and I had no idea they gave cash prizes. I just thought it was a prestige-type thing. The First place was for a song I have quoted in my fic, Lay Me Low (The song's called Waiting to Hear), and the Third place was As Morning Falls, which was the inspiration for my second fanfic!
As if that wasn't killer enough, I saw the Hubs and our Dominant friend whispering in the corner yesterday, and when I asked what was going on, the Hubs said, "I can't tell you. You'll just have to wait."
This afternoon, we come home from work and our friend Brian has single-handedly deposited a full-sized piano to our home! I only have a keyboard that takes forever to set up to play, and now I can play the piano anytime I want. I have the best friends in the world.
We have had an incredible outpouring of support from friends, from our friends making scrumptious desserts to sell in the shop, to one bartering a weekly lunch to clean our floors for free. I just feel so grateful. I'm trying to be worthy of all this help.
I have written another chapter of LML, but this morning I knew it was too flabby and overlong. Right in the middle of the day, the Muse informed me that it needed to be almost rewritten, and gave me what I needed to rewrite. I have to do what he says, he's the one with the ideas. I've been given some great gifts today. That is another one.
