Yep, that's my story and I'm stuck to it. I felt this way after the book, but I truly love Alan Rickman, and I've been told his death scene is very moving. Just my luck, I will be seeing it with three other very cynical people, and they will laugh at me crying and I will feel like an uber-geek. As I said to Droxy, I'm just going to keep telling myself, "I'm Teddy Radiator, dammit - I've made grown women cry with my stories!!" lol
I just don't like the whole Nazi!Severus thing they're doing. I just hope that, with typical Hollywood 'beat you over the head with it', they are trying to show a contrast and actually show canon!Snape in the end. Jeez, these guys are more AU than we'll ever be.
But just because Severus is dead in THAT particular universe doesn't mean he has ceased to exist. If you believe in reincarnation, or at least accept that it MAY be true, then we've all lived and died many times. Yet here we are! He is just as alive as we are and always will be!
I will go to the midnight show, I'll cry behind my 3D glasses, then I'll come home and start writing like mad to bring him back to life. There's life in that snarky old git, yet!
Any and subtlety was lost somewhere between the script writers actually reading the book and the first time they held a meeting about it.
It's all laid on very thick. Yes Hollywood, I get it.
And through it all, and that is the saddest thing, I feel that JK never really actually liked the Snape she wrote. And that she never really understood how much impact he had. Or how wonderful a man she really had created. And to think Alan Rickman must have known all this from the get-go.
I agree with what you wrote about JKR. I don't think she got him at all. If she had, I think she would have written him with more chances at happiness, instead of making his life one long walk into oblivion. I watched that short about Snape that Sempra posted, and it just made me want to cry, seeing all those moments in the film that had nothing to do with the book. Typical Hollywood, and JKR is so obsessed with how her 'golden trio' looks that she leaves other great characters like Malfoy and Snape to fend for themselves.
I think he will. I have always loved him to bits, but I've become a true Rickman!whore since Snape. His voice alone was perfect for the part. I realise he was too old, but I cannot see him any other way (except for you, of course!).
I think so, too. I just wish I was going to see it with my friends, instead of with people who will take the mickey out of me for crying. I would like to be with like-minded folks who would cry with me and let me be the big baby I am... :)
I agree - Rickman will deliver. His voice alone moves me in ways no other voice has ever done... sex on velvet anyone?
I believe Crosby, Stills and Nash said it best: Teach your children well lol
My friend Kela and Dominant Brian are the ones we'll be going with. Kela is hard for me to say 'no' to, as she is the one who introduced me to fanfiction and got me writing again after almost 20 years of being in the wilderness... I owe her a debt I can't repay, and for her I will go and cry..
Sounds like Amber and Caden are good reasons to go... I wish I was going with you guys. they sound like goooood people...

Date: 2011-07-10 08:43 pm (UTC)This may need a new brand of "ignore-the-crap-out-of-reality". Snape lives. And that is final.
Now, I'm going to stick my head in the ground for a bit more, mmkay?
