I've Made Up A New Word!

I'm in the middle of a very serious, tender moment of my exchange fic, and I keep wondering why Word is highlighting a word I use a great deal when referring to our dear Potions master. It is then that I look closer and see that I have typed:

He smirkled.

Jeez, I've got to get my eyes lasered.

I'm still laughing like a loon.

Oh, dear! That sounds like something the vampires might do in Twilight when they are trying to be sarcastic. They sparkle AND they smirk. In short, they smirkle.

You know, I think I'm the only person on the planet who has never seen the Twilight series. I see people write about them 'sparkling' all the time - in fact, someone complimented me on one of my vampire fics because my vampires didn't 'sparkle'. What does it mean, exactly?

I've never read/saw Twilight either. But apparently, Stephanie Myers' vampires can go about in daylight. It doesn't hurt them. In fact, it makes them "sparkle". *sound of Mimi retching*

Apparently when Twilight vampires stand in the sun, they sparkle like diamonds, hence giving away their identity as vampires or something like that. I remember a Potter fanart cartoon that featured Snape having just killed Edward Cullen from Twilight. The caption was something like real evil doesn't sparkle.

Ah, I see! Someone gave me a review of one of my vampire fics and congratulated me on no having my vampires 'sparkle'. I didn't know what the heck they were talking about. I think I'll keep my personal vampires properly contained to nightfall...

LOL, last year, I had Romanian as a language in my fic and while my beta in Romania was MIA at one point, I thought I'd be clever and translate a word on my own, and chose a term I thought meant "to be branded."

LMAO, turns out, it meant "to drink brandy." *snerks* Charlie drinking brandy on his neck did not have the impact I was hoping for. ;)
