Oh, awkward condolences. I found out about that the hard way by giving my sympathy to someone that I liked but didn't love, giving them a drink and leaving it. That person later told me that I was the only person who didn't make her feel pressured to figure it out. I was internally cringing, knowing that I WAS THAT ASSHOLE to the people I loved the most. It was quite an eye opener.
A coworker just lost her mom last week and her Aunt was at the deathbed telling her that she should have been a better daughter to her mother and just unloading on her. Then she was worried because she hadn't been able to cry. I was outraged, and I told her that mothers ALWAYS wish they had been better to their kids and I'm sure her mom wasn't judging her about her teenage years when as an adult she was helping to support them. Then she was allowed to grieve the way she does, and nobody can tell her how to do it. She almost cried in the break room, but I can tell she is glad that someone gave her the permission to be imperfect and to grieve the way she needs to.
And Helena, you don't have to go overseas to find a British guy, I think they are all migrating to Kansas.
Oh, my son is a gamer. One of his regular group is a twentysomething woman, and they have had to lock elbows with her and smackdown some trolls who try to harass her. It angers him possibly more than it does her.
And that... inflexibility issue... in the words of Mada "Wait... isn't this for FREE? You're not getting paid, right?"
Nice to hear from you all. Have a cool spot of weather to enjoy!

Date: 2016-08-08 12:04 am (UTC)That was actually La la music from the cajun part of Louisiana - a delightful group called Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys, and their cover of Dance du Mardi Gras - it's slightly slower and more rustic than Zydeco, which is more New Orleans based and a little more 'refined' (think Clifton Chenier) - (of course I am saying all this from the one documentary I saw on the differences, so my knowledge is an inch deep and a mile wide as they say), but I just love it.
I have a very bad habit of thinking that in order to be a friend, I need to butt in and bombard my friends with information (like the blurb above, in fact), and learning about Holding Space was a real eye-opener for me.
Yay for good son! That boy was raised right! ;)
Yes, the inflexibility issue is ongoing, but it's just a fly buzzing around now to me. Others are still feeling the Wrath of Mod, I am told.
Thank you so much for listening - it really means so much to us! ♥
