I have a lovely British friend named Angela, whom we met at, of all places, Walmart. She worked in the Vision Center, and somehow or another we spoke and realised she was from old Blighty same as TheHubs™, and we've been fast friends ever since. Angela makes incredibly beautiful jewelry and crafts with polymer clays and other components under the name Crafty Brit. I have a couple of pairs of her earrings, and they are so charming and adorable. One day we were talking about this and that, and I said, "One day I'm going to commission you to do something deocrative for our bedroom, as soon as I can figure out what I want." She asked about colours and decor, and I said that I was hoping for 'peacock' colours (blues, greens, purples, iridescents, etc).

Yesterday, she said, "Let's meet. I've got something for you."

It's only a Journal - with a handmade writing pen!

She made every part of this by hand with presses and embellishments like gemstones and stamps. The awesome thing about the pen is that, even though it is perfectly smooth, there are these 3D images stamped in the clay, everything from gears to owls and stars and quotes. It is a thing of absolute beauty, and I'm absolutely in love. Everytime I see the heart-shaped clock, I swoon. It's like she took all the things she knows I love and put them in one place. About a month ago I was in a thift store and came upon a box full of these little art easels for 80 cents and impulsively bought one - I can see the Muse had his reasons for prompting me now.

This was her first journal, and I am blown away by it. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I am surrounded by the most talented friends.

AND we had the best Chicken Dopiaza I've ever had in my life tonight. Life is full of gorgeous flavour.
