What a week it's been. Loads of positive things, loads of work, some strange phenomena, some of the same old, same old.

Work continues to kick butt but hey, it's money, and the job's not that bad. They're just sending us all over the place and we've already had to change our two front tires from all the driving we have to do. Still, I love the flexibility, and after all this time, I doubt I could survive a structured office job, even if I wish it paid better.

Mom's birthday was yesterday. She turned 78, and looks fantastic. I've been a bit worried about her - she caught a bug a few weeks back, and really got hit hard by it. She's doing fine now - we took her out for a meal tonight, and she kept laughing that it was good to be 'out' again. I think the cabin fever was getting to her. I knitted her a scarf, and gave her two coloring books and a pin in the shape of a little bee - she loves pins. We are both fastly becoming coloring book fanatics. I recently received one that I had ordered from Amazon with Day of the Dead sugar skulls. It is very disappointing, not what I wanted at all, so I may sell on. It's just not doing it for me.

I had a funny thing happen yesterday. I bought this really nice body wash - lovely scent, good staying power. The only problem is that is has a HUGE amount of red dye in it, and it's stained everything I use to wash with - microfiber cloths, sponges, evenwhere it landed on my cloth shower curtain. I complained to the company - my shower looks like the St. Valentine's Day massacre took place there.

I had my annual hair cut on Tuesday. A good friend of ours owns a studio, and gives TheHubs™ marvelou cuts. I'm a little undecided about mine, though. He was very thorough and gave me a very good cut, but I'm still not sure it's what I wanted or even if I like it. I think I'll need to give it time to settle in. He undercharged me big time, though, so no complaints where he can see 'em, lest I become Miss Ingrate 2016.

Loving [livejournal.com profile] mywitch's ABCs of Severus Snape Coloring Book! If you haven't seen it, please go and give it some love and vote for your preferences. What a lovely lady, and what a talent.

I started on an SSHG piece that had been rattling around in my head. This week, I was awakened with the sudden, confident knowledge that this story isn't SSHG. It is original, and I'm writing it as such. It's the murder mystery I mentioned, and aside from world building, writing suspense, tension, steampunk sensibilities and hot sex, I'm a wreck. It's coming along slowly, but I think it has good potential if I just stop stressing and start writing.

We're having friends over tomorrow night for homemade pizzas and beer, then we'll record a podcast together. I'm looking forward to it, but I can't seem to edge myself into some good categories for discussion. If you have any suggestions, I'm totally all ears.

I'm sure there's something else I wanted to put in here, but for the life of me I can't remember it.

Oh, original! I can't wait for it. Just go with it - original us such fun.

When I was at Chattacon the other week, there were some excellent steam punk things and panels and everything and I very much wished you could be there. It was fun. Very few people I know have a great love for ut but I know you like it :)

Hugs on the work!

Thank you for thinking of me, sweetie! I am nervous about it, but also feel so strongly it's what I must write. I'm just putting snippets of it down for now, and trying to visualise this world.

I'm so excited for your original fiction piece! I love all that steampunk bizniz. And I can't wait to see what you do with a murder mystery!
Sorry, but the St. Valentine's Day Massacre shower curtain made me LOL. The company will probably send you a case to apologize.
That's a bummer that the sugar skulls were a wash. By all rights they should have been gorgeous. Grrr. Thanks for the props on my coloring book - I'm having so much fun with it. About to get buzy with some Snape and Petunia, woot! <3

Ooh, can't wait!

I'm getting more and more nervous, trying to second guess myself. I need to remember that what works best for me is to just frickkin' write and worry about logic later!

I did! What a dope to rub it all over her body! I love Lush, though. I can get one whiff of a Lush store and I'm immediately back in Covent Garden.

Original is great. Go for it (it's slowly happening to me with the Heir, too. From the beginning I kinda slipped the characters over HP ones, and it's kinda showing. So... going OF from the beginning makes great sense, and you definitely have that worldbuilding thing.

Be CAREFUL of dyes all over. See for example the site diefooddye.com For having witnessed it first-hand (part of what made me unavailable for fiction for some years), I can say these food and cosmetic colors do wreck lives.

Lotsa success
