All Over The Place Today
Jun. 3rd, 2015 08:09 pmMy computer is running like a pig and this is the third and hopefully last time I will have to start this post over. Already you are getting the Reader's Digest Condensed version of the Condensed version. Work is hellish and I am sick of being their sacrificial lamb for this new shite reporting system they have foisted on us. That's all I have the energy to write about it - for the third time.
We've moved back into the SteamLib, but still no bookshelves. Here's what is there so far.
My 'hand-held lamp' turned out better than I ever hoped. No one told me, however, that Gorilla Glue swelled and turned such an ugly piss-yellow colour when it cured, though. Thankfully we had one of those Minwax furniture pens - it takes colour well, in any case. Here's a comparison of the one that inspired it, and the lamp itself:

All in all, I'm pretty happy with it.
The desk has undergone a makeover as well. I stained it a much darker colour, and added new hardware. It didn't take long to fill it up with crap, though. Nothing changes. Perhaps someday it may actually be uncluttered:

Also, the Victrola was moved into the room. It's huge but it works so well in here. It and the amazing globe lamp TheHubs™ gave me on my previous birthday look very good in here, I think.

I have spoken to mother about the little train case we ModPodged, and I found out a little more about it. Apparently it had originally belonged to my Grandfather, her dad. He was a commercial artist, and this was the case he kept his brushes in. I loved knowing this was its history, and she was delighted that it had been given a new life in our room.
Here are some other features that are on the walls. We still have a long way to go, I'm afraid:

The carriage lamp is a real Frankenstein of a thing, but one of my favourites, and the London Balloon is something we've had for ages. We have a few more things for the walls in here, but we just haven't got around to them yet. Tomorrow I'll include pics of the window. It was by far the most difficult piece to install.
Did you know the artist Jack Vettriano did a lot of really sexy paintings of women and men being tied down, and sexy three-ways - I mean, real pulp fiction-y stuff? You probably did - I'm always the last to know about these things. Well, I have acquired a new respect for him since I saw These Babies.
The Teddy and The Bassman Podcast is in the can and I'm really quite proud of it - we had an absolute ball editing and putting it together. Today we listened to it - it's really nothing but a breeze-shooting session between the two of us, just like what we do while we're in the car talking to one another, but it sounds pretty good. We interspersed it with everything from music to really old vintage 60's British Radio adverts, and it taught us a lot about post-production of these things. It is supposed to be uploaded this weekend, so I'll send the link if anyone would like to listen to it.
Well, we have to go by
kmhmd's place and help her Hubs set up their little man's new guitar, so I'll sign off for now. Hugs to all who needs 'em.
