Catching Up Post is Catching Up

It's been a quiet week in Lake Wobegon...but it's been hell with the lid off in SC. Lots of good stuff, to be sure. but just busy busy.
Last Thursday, we headed to work (It was a hellish work week, and our final, mind-bending, almost 24 hour day). Just as we pulled into the first car park, I realised we'd forgot something we needed. TheHubs™ decided to stop by the gas station on the way back to the house. When we pulled in, this white, bedraggled little cat came limping around from the back of the gas station. TheHubs™, who cannot bear to see an animal or child in distress, immediately tried to greet it. Imagine my surprise when it not only limped up to him, but started seriously schmoozing. TH called me over, and the cat was just as friendly and welcoming to me. Our hearts were immediately snagged.
Turns out the gas station workers had been feeding it (hence the friendliness), but both already had cats and didn't want to take him on. They'd asked everyone who came in if they recognised or wanted the little guy, and no one did. Long story short, yes, we took him straight to the vet, spent $150 on tests and x-rays and meds (his limp was from a previously separated shoulder - the Vet thought he'd been clipped by a car), and we brought him home. He instantly made himself at home, and was so laid back he was almost constantly horizontal. Totally mellow cat.
But of course, the Golden Trio freaked out like whoa, and we realised almost immediately that we couldn't keep him. It wasn't fair on anyone. To our unbounded relief, a friend of TheHubs™ offered to take him, and on Sunday we took this little fellow around to his new home. Two hours after we left, we received a photo of the little guy curled up on our friend's chest, a big kitty smile on his sleeping face. I think he settled in well. Here's a photo of the little guy on our bed. He pretty much spent his days like this. Very laid-back, very mellow:

On the way home, we stopped and rescued a tortoise and helped him across the road. It was our week to help out our fellow animals. Our boys are back to normal, thankfully, and we learned a valuable lesson - we are a three cat maximum family. We would have kept the little guy if no one came forward, but he really needed to be in a one-cat house. I know he's in a home where he will be loved and petted and given lots of happiness - big payoff for us.
Her Minder Chapter 28 is just a couple of edits away from the vault. It was the most difficult chapter to write, and poor
stgulik really didn't enjoy it. I hated putting her through that.
This week's work isn't nearly as exhausting, but next week will be, so we're enjoying the calm before the storm. Thursday we will go and see the production of Les Miz - the one we both auditioned for and didn't get, and Saturday is TheHubs™' birthday. He'll be gigging that night, but it's a rather swanky place, so I'm going to join him. I've even broken down and bought some nice clothes for the occasion. We're also planning to have a few family and friends over for my birthday in July, so I guess we'd better start cleaning the house again ;)
Hugs to all who needs 'em. I hope your Tuesdays are going well.
