TheHubs™ was craving a full English, so we got all the gubbings for it yesterday, and this morning we made it. We're getting so forgetful; no mushrooms, no tomatoes and no fried bread, but the rest was pretty good.

The only negative was the sausages he chose. They had a good pedigree, Johnsonville's, but we didn't realise until we cut into them that they had this melting white cheese stuff injected in them. I couldn't eat it; it looked likethey were oozing pus.

I passed them on to TheHubs™, who finds little offputting.

Other than that, the bacon was too thin; I mean, people, why bother to sell it so tissue-paper thin it just comes apart the moment you separate it?

In other news, I was saddened to read that Maya Angelou passed today. She was such an inspiration, a Muse and a creative force for good in the world.

The bacon thing: This is the reason I get thick cut bacon anymore. They slice the regular bacon so thinly that it's impossible for me to use. They do it because it saves them money: you get less bacon, but they charge you the same price. It's like tuna. Old recipes call for 6 ounce cans, but the cans they make these days are 5 ounces. But they charge the same price. It gives consumers the illusion that they aren't paying more for something, but they are. I'd rather they keep things the same size and just raise the price.

That's true. I bought some Smithfield's bacon not long ago - it's the good stuff, supposedly. But it was as bad as this stuff - wafer thin and impossible to cook properly.

I have never had a full English breakfast before but it sounds good. I would have eaten our brats for you. I like those kind.
