[livejournal.com profile] justpinkpastel is a loving, generous, gifted friend who constantly encourages me in every way. She is part cheerleader, part Greek chorus, part sounding board. This little drabble came to me yesterday, and I would like to dedicate it to her for her constant enthusiasm.

Name: Moste Potente Potion
Pairing: SS/HG (implied)
Length: 100 words
Rating: PG-13
Summary: It's what he does best...
Disclaimer: These characters are the property of JK Rowling and Warner Bros. This piece is not meant in any way to infringe any copyright laws. I own nothing but the tears I will cry in July.

~~~~~~~~
He watches, checking for any change in temperature, colour, consistency, flavour. He has patiently stirred, adding each ingredient in the right measurement, at the right time in the right order. Shimmering, simmering, rising to the boil.
Each twist of the wrist, each turn of the rod, is timed from years of practice; the brew is more powerful now than when he was a nervous, callow man, attempting this recipe for the first time.
She is heady as Amortentia, invigorating as Pepper-up and as perfect as Felix Felicis. Now he feels her, ready for him, potent; a tonic to be consumed.
Beautiful! I really struggle to write drabbles, they're just so short.
Dunno if this will make you more depressed or cheer you up, but if you haven't seen the official HP Deathly Hallows Part 2 Trailor is out:
I can aleady tell I'm going to be crying like a baby. I almost don't want to see it in the theatre, knowing I'll just be a sniveling wreck!
Drabble writing was soooo intimidating for me - I'm so verbose. It is a great teaching tool, but I'm afraid, not one I can put into great practice. When faced with unlimited word count, I just revert back to the blabbermouth I am.
Me too re crying like a baby! But I think the whole group of us will be so it won't be so bad. Mind you we'll probably set each other off...
Word has it that certain characters get better deaths though so I'm keen to see that. If they have to die, at least they can die with dignity.
My problem when writing is dialogue. I grew up in theatre so my dad's theory is that that's why I tend to take to writing dialogue. Pages and pages of dialogue. It might be nice dialogue but even the best gets boring after a while - Waiting for Godot a case in point. Usually in the editing stage I have to go through and chop entire conversations out.
Lovely.
Does he stir the cauldron Clockwise or counter clockwise?
Well, if he's any kind of Potions master at all, I'd say he can do both with equal dexterity ;)
I have the most fun answering your replies - love seeing M. Malfoy winking at me.
Personally speaking, I like it when he stirs the cauldron slowly, then oh-so- slowly takes the stirring rod almost all the way out of the cauldron before resuming his stirring with even more gusto! Ah... I DO love helping him make potions!
Why do I get the feeling you not speaking at ALL about potions, my dear Mimi darlin? LOL
The fact that you're hanging onto the bedpost places me in doubt. Saucy Minx.
All this talk of con makes me want to do our own. Why don't you, Sempra and I meet down here at my place for a Coven?
It's not for naught that the first word in "convention" is "con". It's all just a way to separate one from one's money. Or that may just be sour grapes on my part. Ooo... grapes! Perhaps I can get SM to feed me some! All that cauldron stirring DOES make one peckish!
Which is WHY we need to have our own, private one. C'mon, it'll be fun! We can build a bonfire and chant around it and play cards and drink tequlia - isn't that what they do at cons?
I think your soliloquy about grapes must be a Celia Warbeck song, "Someone's been stirring my cauldron, and he's stirred it up so fine, if he stirs that rod in my direction I'm gonna make him mine - Now, everybody, on the chorus....."
Alas, right now I'm in the position of being like the character of Jacob from Lost; I cannot leave the island, for I am its caretaker. I have multiple parrots, and pet-sitters around here don't seem to "do" birds. Until the day I find someone I trust who can actually STAY with them.... I am Jacob.
Ahhhhh!!! SQUEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! Thank you so much! I am rather speechless at the moment. I have tears of joy and gratitude in my eyes. I never expected such kinds words nor a dedication of a beautiful piece of work. My Muse and I are extremely grateful and incredibly happy that you thought of us!
I believe this drabble is going to inspire some rather amazing daydreaming sessions... He is so practiced in all his movements that he know just how to get exactly what he is expecting from his minstrations. Oh, how I love it!
Is it wrong of me to pretend that I am the "she" in this story? I am ready for him and willing to be consumed. Tee-hee-hee!
I ALWAYS pretend it's ME in the story. Hermione... THAT little bint!....
I thought that was the POINT of SS/HG. We can all pretend to be young pretty girls being ravished by our older, sexy Potions professors. Honestly, girls, why do you think I WRITE fanfiction?
I am so glad to know I'm not the only one who replaces the character in the story with themselves. That makes me feel so much less of an obsessive.
I've even written MYSELF into stories with him. Why, yes... I AM shameless!
In MY fantasies, I'm always the one seducing HIM, rather than the other way around, LOL. I think that it's a control thing with me.
The pleasure's all mine, Karen. It's just a little something to let you know how much your constant encouragement and dedication mean to someone like me. I'm just glad you liked it.
I had a lot of fun with the 'caulddron' metaphor. but the best 'cauldron story' has to be this one:
http://www.sycophanthex.com/ashwinder/viewstory.php?sid=17574
It's called The Secret's In The Sauce, and if you haven't read it, stop what you are doing now and go there! It's just one of the best pieces of SS/HG fun smut I've ever read.
One of the best lines in fanficdom: "Stirring and breathing; that was all he was capable of doing." Priceless!!
Someone is a very lucky fangirl. Sigh.
I just wish I could do something about the mood icon at the bottom of the post other than sending you virtual hugs.
