Happy Mardi Gras! Eat, drink and make merry in preparation for those 'darker joys of denial'. Here's a virtual slice of King Cake, along with some beads and dubloons. I hope you find the baby...
I still owe somebody cake from finding the baby during Squeefest at Karelia's in '09. I'd have to make it myself, though. Ain't nobody this far north does king cakes. Paczki instead. :D
My ex-husband was from N'Awlins. I went to Mardi Gras five or six times and it was SUCH fun -- beignets at Cafe du Monde, brunch at the Court of Two Sisters, the Neville Brothers at Tipitina's...*happy sigh* Thirty years later I still have plastic cups in my cupboard that say BACCHUS on them :)
Hubs is at a friend's Mardi Gras party right now and I'm home with the kids. *Sigh* Doesn't matter much since their place is over an hour drive away, all the food the wife of the friend cooks is too spicy for the kids, and she usually doesn't start serving gumbo and other main course items until 9:30/10 pm and they have cat. *ACHOO!* Plus it's a school night.
Gave hubs two bottle of wine to take with him, at least.
Hey, throw me something, mister! I don't believe I have ever really participated in Lent since it wasn't ever required in my church, so I don't have the same kind of appreciation for the last hoorah. I still like Mardi Gras, though.
