Doing All The Things
Feb. 19th, 2014 04:01 pmWell, DIY week went really well. We dug out the guest room from under a mountain of junk (you actually couldn't open the door and walk into the room), we painted the green Adirondack rocker a lovely beach-y blue, and the yucky old chest of drawers a crisp, glossy white. We hung a mirror that's been languishing in that room for six years, because neither of us really liked it. UNTIL we realised that we'd been looking at it as a square, when in reality it was supposed to be hung on it's point, diamond-shaped. You don't really realise what a difference 90 degrees will make, until it's hanging up and looks really neat. TheHubs™ hadn't wanted to give it house-room before that.
New linens, curtains, etc have made the place look really inviting. The girls will be here next month, but it's nice to have it ready for them. I've even made them a corkboard (I know, I can't help if I love those things) and new bathrobes and other goodies. We want it to feel like they are being pampered as best we can.
TheHubs™ has also hung our guitars on the wall:

The pink one is called the 'Teddycaster' and was customised for me by my dear friend Todd. The middle Precision is Ruby, a purchase from
jenidralph and is his current 'fav' to play. The one of the end is a Lakland Jazz bass, and a real gem. It doesn't have a name, and he's holding a contest. I'm not sure that the prize is going to be anything beyond his profound gratitude, but he knows how clever you all are with coming up with names (witness 'Seymour Rhodes', the little abandoned teddy we found last year), so please feel free to name away.
We've finally got around to hanging up prints that have been sitting around for ages, and tidying up in general. We have a few more bits and pieces to do, and when we're done, I'll include photos so you can see our progress. It's just so cool to be able to walk into that room and not trip over all the crap in there.

It's so exciting that the girls are coming to visit. I'm very happy for you and TheHubs™. Gonna be great fun!
TheHubs™ can name his guitar Perciformes. Google is a wonderful thing... I'm just saying. 8^)
