The scary thing is that this is the first time I've ever been sorted into Slytherin, and it is the first time I've taken this test truly honestly; I haven't answered the way I thought I should answer, or the way I want people to perceive me, or the way I think people already perceive me. I was 100% honest with myself, warts and all. I suppose I was right all along - I have been sorted previously in the way that I thought I was supposed to be sorted, and not in the way I was actually sorted.

What also surprised me is how even across the houses I was - 45% Ravenclaw, 41% Hufflepuff, 61% Slytherin and 53% Gryffindor. Now granted, when it asked if I had a preference I chose Slytherin. Just to make sure, I took it again with no preference and my percentages were 57% Slytherin and 53% Gryff (other two remained the same), so I still was sorted into Slytherin even without a preference.

And I'm somewhat bemused that I'm putting such a lot of thought behind all this.

Your result for The Sorting Hat: A Comprehensive Harry Potter Personality Assessment [Test/Quiz]...

Slytherin

45% Ravenclaw, 41% Hufflepuff, 61% Slytherin and 53% Gryffindor!

Or perhaps in Slytherin

You'll make your real friends,

Those cunning folks use any means

To achieve their ends.

Slytherin's cardinal traits are ambition, cunning and determination. Like the Gryffindor House, Slytherins are emotionally volatile. In contrast, however, Slytherins are much less dominant and assertive, and less extroverted in general. Rather than expressing these emotions outwardly, Slytherins direct them inward or act in a passive aggressive manner. Both Gryffindor and Slytherin are much more driven to succeed than the other two houses: Gryffindor out of pride and Slytherin out of ambition.

Slytherins are also much more pragmatic than the other houses and more adept at manipulating people. A key trait would be a low level of agreeableness: Slytherins are more pessimistic, more distrustful than most, and more likely to attribute negative motivations to people. So although Slytherins experience a wide range of emotions, due to their distrustful views of people and skeptical worldview, they are less expressive and more likely to appear cold or distant unless provoked.

A Slytherin's ambitious nature comes out in different ways depending on what is important to the individual person. It could lead them to try to achieve top marks (if intellect and schooling is important to them) but it could also be directed at social settings or towards athletic endeavors.

True, but stating my preference didn't make any difference. Perhaps if I'd stated my pref the other way...

I still like you, Teddy Malfoy. Just don't join the dark side, K?

I tested Griffindor, just barely. It was 52% Griffindor, 51% Ravenclaw, 51% Hufflepuff and 41% Slytherin. I'm not sure how I got so close to Ravenclaw, as I don't consider myself THAT smart, but I'll take it. ;D

Actually, if you look at it you tested more Griffindor than I did. Wonder how that works.

I would have pegged you for a Ravenclaw for sure!!! :)

I didn't think my side could get any darker! LOL

~waves to fellow Slytherin~

I had 63% for Slytherin, 61% Ravenclaw, 34% Hufflepuff and 37% Gryffindor.

Edited because I can't read my own results properly. Ahem.
It's interesting that house preference has such an influence on the result - wonder if I would have ended up in Ravenclaw if I hadn't said Slytherin was my preference.

I did it twice, once stating my preference and one without. The percentages changed a little, but it didn't skew the overall results. Who knew??

I've taken this test several times, but this is the first time I've been sorted into Slytherin. I've been Ravenclaw all this time - I think I was hoping I was more intelligent than devious. ;)

See, Ravenclaw is not just intelligence, Slytherin not just devious, it is how we have used our gifts, for intelligence is evenly spread across the houses, as intelligence comes in many forms, like other traits.

I have Ravenclaw and Gryffindor tendencies in Me, but Slytherin is how I came to be who I am, I tested thus before I even read the series or saw the films, many a time.

I like to do these sorts of memes as they provide another way of self-reflection, albeit in a different context. It's a fun but often relatively accurate (if they are done in a decent manner) way of observing how you are in a realm of, say, Harry Potter, or, in the case of the D&D meme, Dungeons and Dragons. At least, I always find it an interesting case of self-discovery... :)
