With the final reveal up for
sshg_promptfest, I can admit to having written Every Day Is Saturday, based on a very lovely prompt by
of_anoesis. It was right in the middle of MISTI-Con, and I was behind and suffering from a combination of MISTI prep and a bit of writer's strain, and nothing was really happening for me. Upon my return from MISTI, all gee'd up and inspired, Every Day came to me in an afternoon, and I wrote it in two days. Poor Jules was rushing to get it beta'd and re-written in time, and I made mistakes, but hopefully I can tidy them up before I repost elsewhere. I plan to try and answer each and every comment, but it will take a few days. I cannot tell you all how much I appreciate your kind comments throughout the story.
The glorious thing was that while I was happily choosing
of_anoesis' prompt, she was choosing mine! Her beautiful and touching Falling was everything one prays to the Promptfest gods for: funny, witty, sexy, humourous, sweet, moving - in short, magical. She threw in inside jokes because she knew I loved a certain author's story (*cough*
bloodcult*cough*), and filled it with love and romance and poignancy. I gabbled a hasty comment at the end of each chapter, but I greedily ate it up in no time. It was absolutely awesome.
And I just love the fact that we chose one another's prompts. Great minds, etc etc.
A couple of friends had never done any kind of promptfest before, and they decided to give this one a go. I'm so glad they did because they both shone - my dear friend
jenidralph drew and wrote the marvelous Daily Prophet front page Love, Levity and Libel, proving to herself and the world that not only is she a talented artist and designer, but that she can turn a wicked phrase as well.
stgulik also turned many heads with her delightful epistolary story Hyperbole. It was laugh-out-loud funny (Hermione Granger and the Camping Trip of Doom) and had the best, most hopeful kiss I've ever read at the end. I was asked to co-beta both gifts and I was so proud of both these ladies for participating and wowing their readers in such style.
It was also thrilling to see
cruelcreeper return to the fold with The Misadventures of Romulus. I hope we will see more of her gorgeous SSHG art soon - she has been sorely missed.
And there were so many that made me laugh and cry and sigh. Thank you to all the participants for really putting in such amazing efforts. You could see the hard work and dedication in each posting.
And last but not least,
iulia_linnea and Charlotte: thank you. Thank you for volunteering to take on this fest, thank you for all the long hours and work to make sure everything was ready to post, thank you for being firm but fair, thank you for loving this fandom ship enough to spend your time making this a treat for us all. And thank you for making January our next Prompfest. I'll see you all there, and hopefully more besides.
