Well, yesterday was awesome. I finished my Con talk, and feel really, really good about it. It's in 6 sections, which will run approximately 5 minutes each, or a little under. I have done a lot of speaking in the past, but none in about two years, so I'll do a bit of reading aloud between now and then, but all in all, I think the subject is coherent and hopefully engaging enough to keep folks interested.

Hair is coloured; it's a little darker than usual, but works. Bought some makeup, since all mine is about two years old. I got some lovely cherry red lipstick, which with my tiny mouth, looks a little lewd, but I like the drama of it. Rite-Aid awarded me $10 off for it; like that alot.

Only one more work day (tomorrow), then Tuesday is for last minute stuff like checking luggage and boarding passes and all that pish. The kitchen didn't get touched, but the Hubs said not to worry, he'd do it while I was gone. If I didn't know better, I'd swear he was....up to something. ;)

Still kvetching about my checked luggage weight. I'm 90% convinced I'll buy a cheap bag at Wal-Mart once we arrive and pay for a second checked bag on the return trip. Roomies, is anyone bringing something like a glue gun? I have one costume challenge that can't be dealt with until we are there. If not, I'll sew. Either way it'll work. I'm done worrying about it. I'm going to be what I'm going to be there, and I'm going to have fun with it.

After Con, there are so many things I need to do, but I think I will be recharged and ready to tackle them. I have got to finish Lay Me Low, and Her Minder, and it looks like the new work schedule will cooperate. Yay! I was starting to lose hope and faith in my ability to get this done.

I feel good, friends. I am so excited and I've been Facebooking a lot, which as [livejournal.com profile] jenidralph so eloquently put it, is a temporal vampire if you let it, which I have. Loads of Con stuff on it, and I've been sucked into it all. After Con, I am only using it to promote the novel. There! I've carved it in STONE!!!!! **snicker**

Hugs to all who need 'em. I've passed from performance anxiety into a state of neutrality, and into 'yeah, let's get this party started' mode, so providing no disasters, I'll just chill for the next couple of days. I'm no longer as frightened of flying as I once was (because, let's face it, fear of flying is really fear of dying, and I no longer have that terror of the unknown anymore), so I'm determined to make the best of that. My only worry is my baggage; I just hope I'm near some nice person who doesn't mind hoisting my carry-on in the overhead compartment. There are existential impossibilities that I can overcome, but the physical ones are harder, and my hernia doesn't need the strain! ;)

Spare a thought for [livejournal.com profile] sabrebabe, whose airport is looking a little uncertain for flights. The weather here is abysmal, but it looks like it might be decent for flying by Wednesday. Hers, maybe not so much. Fingers and toes crossed this crazy weather will cooperate.

How much would it cost to check the second bag on the return trip? Perhaps it would be cheaper to mail stuff back instead?

Depending on how much swag I get ;) it might be cheaper to post. It's more if I can get to a post office. I don't know if the hotel will do it, but if they would post for me that would definitely be a possibility.

I won't be bringin a glue gun, but I will have my travelling sewing kit. Because costume failures are as predictable as, well, Piper falling out of her costume at some point. :D

The weather here isn't going to be terrible this year, but we are prone to early morning fog. If the pilot is feeling squeamish the night before, he won't land until the fog burns off later in the morning. If he does land the night before, then I've got a pretty good shot at my flight being on time. Maybe. We only get two flights out a day up here, and the Oh my god it's early flight happens to be the same plane that lands late the night before. It's all very primitive up here. But there is no snow in the forecast, just fog and some rain. Nice and warm, too- in the 50s and 60s!

If I remember to put it in the pile, I will bring my glue gun. I am pretty sure I am going to need it.

I am so excited for you, getting to go to Misti-Con. Wish I could be there to cheer you on in your talks! Have a fabulous trip and take lots of pics!! Depending on what you have, remember that flat rate post is the best! I have sent the hubby multiple boxes this past year and it did not matter the weight, it just had to fit in the box. I averaged about 15 bucks a month in postage and the heaviest box I sent was about 40 lbs!!

Not bringing a glue gun and as you saw Sabrebabe will have sewing kit, but if you absolutely have to have a glue gun you know that we could always pick one up at Wallyworld for about $8

I dont even own a glue gun.

However, i have velcro. SInce sabrebabe is bringing a sewing kit, I wont be bringing mine except for buttons thread and white and black velcro.

Sabre will be fine. Weather for her is normal, what can happen is flight cancellation.

I can fix things with tape.
