Sorry to be so late getting this under the wire.
Day 03
In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.
I decided this time to feature three fics which are defined by the samples above:
1. Favourite Fanfiction: Lemon Squeezy. One of the best things about fanwork is how is can inspire you to do something.
atdelphi truly made me appreciate Severus/Filch as a pairing. Also, Seven Preposterous Things, which you all know is my all time fav fanfic, featured a stupendously strong Millie as a main character. Then one day, Delphi wrote a Millicent/Filch one shot that made my ovaries burst into flames. All this amalgamated into a very powerful soup.
A few months later, Lemon Squeezy came almost fully grown into my head, and I wrote it down so fast I barely remember taking my dictation from the Muse. While the pairing isn't everyone's cup of tea, what I'm proudest of is how the early parts follow canon and fit together. I was a little sad that no one got my Mrs. Norris reference, which tied Millie to her and why Hermione Granger turned into a cat in her second year, but it gave me a secret chuckle.
I also appreciated these three disparate characters, and how they would perceive one another. I felt it was well-written and engaging, and without any false modesty, I think it's probably the best story I've ever written.
2. Fanfics I feel no one ever saw. This is truly a fanfic no one ever saw because I only wrote it for about 10 people as a Christmas gift two years ago. It's called Hogwarts: A History...of sorts; The Twelve Years of Christmas After The War. I created this little book and it was a little piece of fluff. I remember being appalled because after I'd sent it out for Christmas I realised it was full of embarassing typos. I've tried to correct them but I make no promises, as
stgulik didn't have a chance to beta it.
3. Fanfics that define me as a creator: I think Every Saint Is An Accident is a decent example. It was based on a prompt for the Severus_fest this year, and is a pairing many don't consider (Severus/Petunia). It was canon compliant for the most part, and I really tried to find their voices. I always felt that sparks might fly between them, and I certainly struck the flint enough. I also made Severus smoke, which is not a big button for me, but it felt right for this story. I also tried to make him as unromantic and Mancunian as I could. I hope I succeeded.
