A Grand Day Out
Jul. 26th, 2013 10:33 pmFirst of all, thank you to everyone who sent me birthday wishes. I have literally spent all day reading and enjoying them! Unbelievable. I tried to reply to each and every one, and if I missed yours, I cannot apologise enough. I have been overwhelmed at the outpouring of love and well wishes I have received today. Thank you, my dear, dear friends.

kmhmd's husband who wrote, "Happy Birthday, you sexy bitch!" Well, at my age it's still nice to get called that on one's birthday.
The Hubs took me out to dinner at the local Irish Pub, where I had delicious Calabash shrimp, Beer Cheese Soup, and Hot Fudge cake. We went over to Michael's to pick up a few odds and ends, and while he was getting guitar strings, I popped over to the Dollar Tree and stocked up on a few $1 goodies, mainly for my hair. Not having a/c in the car means my hair spends most of its time scraped back into rubber bands and hair clips, and it's looking pretty shabby. I desperately need a haircut as well. But a few hot oil treatments wouldn't go amiss.
We came back and chilled for awhile, then naughty
celestialbeing1 posted a FB pic about being at Dairy Queen, and it made me so covetous the Hubs and I jumped in the car at 9pm and drove ourselves over to DQ for a Blizzard. It was lovely, and the night drive reminded us of our first years together when we had so little money we would just get in the car at night and drive aimlessly around, listening to music and talking about stuff.
I realise we drive 70% of our work day, but that's during the sweltering day and we're too hot and bothered to talk much about anything other than work. This leisure driving was nice and mellow, and we returned feeling that way.
Tomorrow is lunch with Mom, and an afternoon phone call with
jenidralph, and some hopefully good hours of writing. I got none done today, but I don't feel too bad about it; I was having too much fun answering all your Happy Birthday posts! ;)
