I've just posted the first two chapters of the birthday fic I made for [livejournal.com profile] sempraseverus , called The Sensual World. I wanted to do a D/s story, but the Muse had something a little different in mind. It's really nothing too deep; just a bit of smutty fun for Sempra's birthday. I welcome any and all feedback on it. Please don't take it too seriously!

Is it me, or has LJ been throwing a few stroppies today? It's been all over the place. Hope it's not just me.

Phase Two of the Writing Nook is in motion. The Hubs bought me my very own Severus:

Severus overseeing the writing nook, with Mimimanderly's phenomenal calendar. I want one EVERY year!! The other pic is a small celtic vase my MIL did. It has these beautiful flecks of white and beige clay in it. One of my favourites of hers.

I still have to hang up my prints and other goodies, but it's getting there and I am so inspired right now. I'm putting together a series of drawing references. I'm ready to try and draw again. I did it awhile back. Hopefully I can still do it.

In LJ's current newsletter they stated that the "third party" they've been using to send emails on the system has been having problems, and that "it is being worked on"...

I had no idea that they were using a third party, and based on the responses they got, no one else did, either.

What the exact nature of the problem is wasn't stated, nor what "being worked on" entailed exactly.

All I know is that the newsletter itself was a couple of days late in coming, and then when I logged on this morning, the exact same newsletter I'd gotten yesterday was resent at 4:30 this morning. So I suspect that something is wonky not only with email delivery, but the LJ system as a whole...

Squeeeee! I've been looking at your art on dA (Fortune of the Ill Fated is the one I love so much) and enjoying it tonight - you are one sexy Bella!

Snag it. Fortune of the ill fated I think is my best digital manip. The Snape and the Trewlaney are from separate photos taken at different cons. I can and I do dress up as a gal. However, there is no wow or stun factor in it. =) I wish I had discovered the costuming much earlier. But then again, maybe not, I'd get into too much trouble. =)

I just love the fact that, even though Snape's facing away from the observer, you can TELL what his expression is - that is just stunning to me!

I love playing dress up, but never thought of cosplay(I don't have the figure for it), but I think it looks like great fun!

One year at work, we had an office decorating contest, and we did an entire business floor as Christmas at Hogwarts, complete with floating candles, magical bookshelves, House banners and Quidditch Hall of Fame Posters. It was Awesome! I have photos of it - I'll send them one of these days. they are just the BEST!

"I dont have the figure for it... " I say bullshit to that.

Anyone can be a death eater- tall short, fat, thin, male, female, any ethinicity. Very short folks under 35 play students or elves or Flitwick.

I can't cosplay all characters. I have been told i can't do Umbridge..LOL My natural HP character is Minerva, but alot of folks cosplay Minerva. I am too tall to be a house elf, which I'd love to try.

Take a look at my droxy FLIKR page for HP conventions. You will find cosplayers of all sizes, shapes, forms, sex, and race. I've even seen cosplayers in wheelchairs. I've seen buckbeaks, dragons, nagini's, and grims. =) I've seen folks do founders and ghosts.

You can send me a pic of real you and i could probably tell you what characters you could do with little to no effort. it is no big effort for me to do Minerva. Bellatrix takes more work and some hardware on my part. Snape takes a lot of suppression and advanced theater art techniques- he's not simple, neither is ollivander. But I am not your normal cosplayer- I do makeup. Most cosplayers are costumers. LOL

You used to draw before? Well, then, you'll have no problem picking it up again, I'm sure! I took a drawing class during the summer of 1980, drew for a while, then stopped, and didn't resume again for about 25 years. If it can come back after all that time, I'm certain it can come back for you!

I'm glad that your writing nook is coming together nicely!

Mimi darling, when I was in college I tried drawing (or copying, really) things from books and whatnot. It was very hit or miss, and sometimes I was very pleased, and other times I just through it away. My grandfather was a commercial artist, and my cousin paints beautifully, and we are the three lefties in the family, so I feel a spiritual kinship with them. I stopped drawing because I didn't have a reason to draw. Now I am feeling a huge compulsion to try again. I told the Hubs, and he's promise me some decent pencils when we have a little extra money. In the meantime, I found some really great drawing references for the type of thing I want to do, and if anything is halfway decent, I'll post them.

Nook is coming together really well - I need Mr. Muscle to put up my large pics, but in the meantime, it feels really good to write here. I've even sat down and finished a chapter from The Family that I've been working on for ages and couldn't get to work. It's going really well now!

That's exactly why I stopped drawing. It was before the internet, and there just was no feedback. Without feedback, it just kind of petered out. And my uncle was a portrait artist and an illustrator, so there may be something to the gene thing.

Exactly. I can sort of copy things well, sometimes. I have four different drawings in mind I'd like to do, and I found loads of references. I'm going to print them out and put them in a notebook, so I don't have to have my laptop on at all times when I draw.
