Oh, that was SO good. All I could think of with the description of the little boy, is that he sounded like a young Severus. The snivelling and being bullied and...even though the situations were different....
And when Severus saw Hermione in the hall, was he remembering and contemplating what life would have been like with someone like Hermione in his corner when he was that age? Would it have been Hermione he fell in love with instead of Lily, who seemed to have done nothing or next to nothing to stop his torments?
Was he imagining, too, how she would mother a child that looked like it could have been his own?
It's a stretch, but hell, men's minds go all over the place - places we women wouldn't think of going, so I just thought I'd throw that out there too. LOL!
