Thirteen Is Alive And Well And So Am I

The work thing seems to be growing more promising by the day. I've passed the phone interview and will be doing a video interview on Monday, so please cross fingers and wish me luck!
All of it was contingent on getting faster internet speeds. A week ago Friday I ordered service from Spectrum, who assured me the modem and service would be Fedexed to me the following Monday. Monday came and went, so I called. No, the sales person was supposed to tell me that the equipment would take 7-10 business days. I nagged until they finally said, "Well, you can go to your local store and see if they have one." I asked them to call for me. "No, we don't have access to the local stores. You can't actually call them." Okay, I'll go and see for myself. "Well, we really don't encourage people to go to the local stores." Fuck me.
Long story, short: I went to the store and asked for the equipment. They had the modem but not the router. I called the self-help line, scheduled a tech to come this morning, with a router, and we're now up and running with blazing speed. Still have heard nothing from the one they were supposed to fedex to me. Teeth pulled, internet installed.
I am still waiting for the headset/mic I was supposed to receive yesterday, but that's okay. I don't actually need that yet.
I write all this to say that this job is looking very promising. It will be a big adjustment, but I've wanted to work from home for some time now, and if you've been following my monthly bitching about my supervisor and my present job, you'll agree that it's probably time for a change. It also means that I'll be making more than the two of us were making at the old job, and TheHubs™ doesn't have to return to it, either. When things are safer, he can go and look for something that will be more satisfying to him.
I'm nervous about it; it's been nearly ten years since I changed jobs, and this is a big difference. Less flexibility, but more stability. Less travel, more money. More responsibility, but more benefits (there were NONE at my present job), so it will definitely be different.
I just really want us both to be safe. That's the bottom line. I didn't mind being home all this time (and to be honest, I truly couldn't stand the thoughts of being stuck in pharmacies and grocery stores all day long with the irresponsible assholes around here breathing on us). In fact, going to the Spectrum store yesterday was a little scary to me. I was properly gloved and masked, and of course I was the only one.
Well, I'll close for now. I'm a little tired from all the machinations of the week. However, I do have 12 new bell pepper seedlings growing like crazy, as well as a few other bits and pieces, and TheHubs™ is going to make me a little raised bed planter from some salvaged wood. And there's a quiche in the oven with my name on it. Actually, it's got Lorraine's name, but I'm staking my claim.
Stay Fresh, Cheese Bags!
