I like that tuning method! It works. As long as everyone playing together is in the same key, you're all good. Random fact: the Treaty of Versailles has a little snippet about marching bands tuning together before they play... because the victory military bands tried to play together after WWI, and they were all around a half-step apart, and it sounded aaaawwwwful.
