Not because I am afraid of needles, no, I just knew a week after I got one, that I wouldn't like it and would want something else. This post brought such a smile to my face - it reminded me of how my beautiful mum and I were, and how much fun we used to have. She's been gone for nearly sixteen years, and I still miss her terribly, and still sometimes finding myself thinking 'I'll have to tell mum that' when something I know would tickle her happens.

I'm so very glad that you have such a good relationship with her and make the most of it.

LOL! I find it very hard to believe that Droxy, The Dark Mod has an aversion to needles. Poking needles into the skin is icky, but reading sshg fics with blood and gore is ok? (referring to Rivertempest's Jaws of Darkness...YOUR prompts!)

At least modern day tattooing methods are relatively quick and painless...as compared to more traditional methods.

Yay for cool mom and birthday ink! I've had a tattoo picked out for about a year now, but have not had the opp to go to the shop and get it priced, etc (meaning, I can't get anyone to watch my kids so I can go to the tattoo joint... lol).

Before HP I never liked needles. Yes, I read The Jaws of Darkness Do Devour with glee because there are no needles involved. Just because I love reading about death and horror doesn't mean I want it to happen to me or my friends. =) Horror is not erotica or UST romance. LOL

If I need a tattoo I use temporaries, which have come along way.

I don't even have peirced ears...so that should tell you something. ;>

Lol. It doesn't hurt that much... just pop some comedy (like Borat, if you like that kind of humour) in the DVD and watch it while the guy works on you. It helped me, and I pass out when I see needles. So... you can do it. If you want to.

Your mum is cool. Seriously. And you're never too old for a tattoo, tell her that. She would be a bad ass older lady, if she got one.

My mother promised me to buy me one, when I lose weight (ain't gonna happen), but only if she can pick it. Well, that's not how it works. You have to pick your own picture, because it is what represents you, and you'll carry it for the rest of your life. Unless, you know, you get tired of it and remove it. Which is very painful, I'm told.

It's great when people surprise you like that.

I did that too... and felt like a kid, that got his tattoos in candies. Or I drew them with permanent markers on my skin.
Also, once I got a hena tattoo... it's fairly simple, and lasted about 2 months. Was kinda cool, but it wasn't black.

But a couple of years ago, I got a summer job, put on my big girl panties and got the real one. And I don't regret it. I'm planning getting a new one. As soon as I find a job...

My body has 0 modifications. No tats, no pierce- its very rare. But I work in a very conservative company and industry and if I got a real tat, I'd get a dark mark on the left forarm. Tats can't be visible if you want to work here, or be in a postion that makes good money. That means for me I can't have a tat that can be seen if I wear shorts and a t shirt. Call me old school, but that's how it is here. You should have seen the sit that happend at my jbo when I showed up with a temp still on from con. oh boy! I said it would disappear in a few days and that mellowed them out. Seriously. The day I had a hair dye mistake and showed up with lilac colored hair...-sighs-

Seriously?? Isn't that discrimination based on how you look?? You should be allowed to wear whatever you want, look however you want to look (clean clothes, of course), and have body modifications you want to have. No matter if it is a conservative company... Unless you signed the contract where it says that they can say to you what to wear and such.

But really, people nowadays should accept modifications, because there will be more and more of them. I know that some people are oldfashioned, and set in their ways. Bet, really... We should be tolerant to everyone, no matter how they look, or speak or who they are.

Anyway, sorry for theofftopic. I can see your point for not getting the real one... My mother said to me, before I got mine, not to get it where I can't cover it every day, even in summer. And I got it above my shoulderblade. So, people that know me whole my life rarely get to see it.

It's shitty when people discriminate based on the looks. But your tattoo (well, your wish) seems awesome. Wish I had more guts to get it myself...
