Perfect Severus song. Jonny Lang sings this like a man whose soul is being torn from his body by the cold-hearted woman walking away from him. This song has haunted me since I first saw this, not only for the lyrics, which could have been written by Severus about Lily, but the heartbreaking performance of a man listening to the retreating steps of the woman who is holding his heart in her careless hand.

The video quality isn't the best, but the performance moves me to tears every time I see it.

Eerily accurate IMO. Lily never understood Severus, nor did she want to. She walked away...but she never walked alongside him in the first place.

Wow. That songs makes my chest constrict. You can really hear the pain behind his voice.

It is an incredible song. I have the original, which is wonderful, but this performance (Eric Clapton's Crossroads Festival) just floored Trev and me. The emotion just seems to be torn from him. It gets me every time.

He has that lovely skinny Severus body, too! I don't think that Severus would sing in front of people about his torment, though. He'd maybe quietly write poems and then burn them, poor lad.

That's the thing about Jonny Lang. When he first started singing, this whiskey voice was coming out of what looked like a 10 year old. Now that he's a little older, he still looks like a teenager. Jonny's been here before, if you know what I mean :)

But this song just grips my heart and shakes it mercilessly...
