Livejournal has not only helped me meet a lot of great people, but it has also helped cultivate my ability to write and flex those creative muscles I never really knew I had.
I'm not nearly as active on LJ as I was when I first started (Here's hoping 2016 is the year the trend breaks), but I could not imagine not having this outlet to interact with genuine people, and even rant and rave when the notion strikes.
