Another Day In Snowville

Well, another day at home (boo, no shop opening = no money), but the Hubs and I decided to just make the best of it. We ate chip butties (that beloved British French Fries Sandwich) and cheesy grits (Brits and Grits - it rhymes but can you dance to it?), and have had a nice day.

The Hubs read the first three chapters of Lay Me Low and pronounced it good, and gave me some plot suggestions that I think mean I've got it nailed for the most part. A few detail devils will have to be exorcised, but other than that I think it's starting to gel.

Droxy's challenge is simply blooming. I have taken canon, distorted it to the extreme 'what-if'? factor, and I have my premise. If you are looking for Nasty-Bastard Bat of the Dungeon Snape, he won't be here. I have written him a few times, and this one is definitely different. I'm convinced he will not be OOC, just very much the product of canon until things go pear-shaped. He will change, but you'd expect him to.

The Muse woke me from <ahem!> my afternoon nap to smugly present me with the most delicious little Lemons chapter for Lay Me Low and I've been typing it out, and when I make myself flush, I know I'm doing well. Watch this space for it to appear in a later chapter.

My Userpic is the artwork that got me banned from dA. If it offends, I apologise. I just loved it, that's why I uploaded it onto dA. I love erotica and  passion and, to me, Sempra and Marquise know how to turn on the smolder. Sempra has felt the dA lash before, so she knows where I'm coming from, but I have to say, except for the premium membership money, I just think: fuck 'em. I love being here. It's the right kind of atmosphere for me, and I'm getting inspired daily with what I see and what gets posted.

And I get the horrible sinking feeling that I may be looking for a real job soon, and I want to write and write as much as I can while I have this wonderful freedom of being my own boss. If the Tea Room does shut, I won't miss the bills or the hassles or the taxes or the city/county bullshit. I'll miss my customers, and the freedom to write whenever the Muse arouses me. So, for now, I'm letting him screw my brains out.

yayyy, it's fun to start with canon and twist it. i love the challenge of trying to keep people in character in non-canon situations. my betas are really good at going "snape would NEVER do that" when i eff up, so that's good too, lol. good luck with the writing!

What is the Tea Room like? It sounds lovely, and I'm sure it would be a blow to your community if you did end up having to close. I hope that isn't the case!

I don't know what you need to do to kick the tea room into overdrive. Offer coffee? Sell tea on line?

Snape- as long as we recognize him. Canon Snape having to survive, go with the flow, will be interesting. =)

It took a few running starts to get the Hubs to eat them. Being British, he'd never tried grits until he hooked up with me, and the first time I made grits, he took a big bite before I had the chance to add the cheese and goodies. He wouldn't touch them for years after that (said it was like eating wall-paper paste, though I'd like to know who does his research). Then when we moved back to the US, I just started plunking it down in front of him and he had no choice but to try it. Lo and behold, loves 'em now.

I'll let you return to your document from hell. I think I'll wait a few days. I'm still tweaking. Although, to be honest, I will tweak a chapter until it is yanked ruthlessly away from me (usually by TPP, they are the most stringent), and only then will I stop editing. I can always find a better, smoother, sexier way to say something after the fact.

Never apologize and never explain.... If people are offended by something you post, it is because they CHOOSE to be offended. YOU can't offend anybody. It is only something that one can do to oneself. And why would anyone CHOOSE to be offended by something? Probably a power trip... to know that they can maneuver someone into apologizing, or better yet, get them banned. You know what offends ME? People who take offense! This concludes this evening's rant! LOL...

I adore this story and I can't wait for chapter three. I can see that it's been posted to ashwinder, but it must not have been uploaded cuz when I like on the chapter link, I don't get the chapter itself. I'll keep checking. Also looking forward to Droxy's story. It sounds wonderful already.

I hope the Tea Room doesn't shut for several reasons. One, I love reading what you've written. Two, you obviously love to write. And three, you'll miss your customers.
