It's Official - Banned Forever!

Yes, I'm very aggravated. Okay, I'm ticked off and furious. I received a message from dA today,

<i>Since you committed a severe violation of our terms of service the penalty for this was the banning of your deviantART account and your removal from the deviantART community since we cannot tolerate this sort of content being submitted to our galleries.</i>

Bloody hell, even I don't leave out THAT many commas. I'm not really upset about losing the privileges. Heck, I'm not even that heartbroken about losing my favourites (well, I am. I had the most beautiful Snape collection you've ever seen). but I am ticked off that I still had 23 of a 24 month premium membership with them.

I'm just so frustrated. I wrote them back, if only to give vent to my sense of outrage, but I know it will fall on deaf ears.

Don't trust dA, folks. They are the most limp-wristed, hypocritical, uptight arseholes I've ever come across, and that's saying something.

I don't even know why I'm that upset. I'm much better off here surrounded by my friends, but my pocketbook is angry, and I really did have some beautiful Snape favs. More fool me.

Demand a refund. I dont have a paid account on DA. It really takes a lot to get me to pay for something when I can easily live within the constraints of a free account.

Frankly, unless they plan on prosecuting you in court, they owe you your money and I've even take them to small claims.

Congratulations, Sweetie! Since DA only seems to like things that are inoffensive and mundane, it seems to me that being kicked out is actually a good thing. I know a number of people who were banned from DA, either permanently or temporarily. Maybe we should all get t-shirts made: Too deviant for DeviantArt. Yeah... we be bad....

It doesn't sound as if there's anyone making those decisions who is even half capable of logical thought. Urgh.

I have read though somewhere, at some point, that dA has some sort of regulations regarding character age... i.e. that for fan works, if the characters are minors in canon, then ageing them up in fan work won't really matter, they're always interpreted as minors. Or something like that. I don't know though if it's something someone just made up or if dA actually follows that as a rule. It sounds stupid enough that they actually might do that.

(Of course, with SSHG, even within canon, Hermione turned 18 in the beginning of the DH year, so... that still wouldn't work as an explanation. Gah. Idiots.)

Yes... indeed it would. For one thing, even if you post a PICTURE as adult content only, the text under it and the comments can STILL be read by anyone -- even the underage. Apparently, this was why some of my drawings were deleted there -- not necessarily for the nudity, but for the text I wrote or the comments that people made.

For another thing, Littlebeans got permanently banned for her comments back and forth with one of the artists, as did the artist himself. Apparently they were a little... um... salacious.

I was about to say "with all those run-ons, it's you who should feel sorry for them," but then I saw your comment on the severe and utterly depressing lack of commas and had myself a smile. You have every right to be mad, and every right to want to tell them to shove it, but quite frankly (as you say) it isn't worth it. Not even a bit. I've become more and more convinced that dA hasn't the slightest idea about what's going on with their sites. It does, however, royally suck that they cheated you out of your membership and your hard-earned Favorites gallery. Douche bags.

The stupid thing is, all my stuff is still there - people are actually sending me messages and adding them as favourites! I still get all my updates and journal requests. How hypocritical is that - other people can look at my stuff but I can't?? That's....just fucked up.

Speak of such, I received my print today. It's actually very, very nice!

It was a beautifully drawn picture from LOTM's For Someone Special, one of the hottest HG/SS ever written. There is a part in there in which Severus duplicates himself and they both have sex with Hermione. It is a scorcher of a scene to read, and Marquise captured it so stunningly. All of Marquise's stuff is for all to see on the WKKT archives. She doesn't do fanart anymore, and I contacted her and asked if I could put a few of her pics on my gallery and she said yes. If I had not specifically said it was HG/SS, they wouldn't have touched it.
