Crack!Meme - Questions from Mimimanderly and Voxangelus

From the goddess [livejournal.com profile] mimimanderly :

1. Name 3 people, living or dead, that you would want to have dinner with.
Hitler, Oscar Schindler, Basil Rathbone

2. Who would play you if a movie were made of your life?
Carrie Fisher

3. What, to you, is the meaning of life... its purpose?
To learn myself, to find my place in the world where I can contribute to its betterment, and therefore to my own. To feel like I haven't wasted it.

4. What would your patronus be? Why?
I often thing of patronuses (patroni?) as the equivalent to the animal spirit that the Native Americans believe we all possess. If that is the case, I think it would be the bear. Single minded, voracious, fiercely protective of their loved ones, all in all cute and cuddly. I'd like to think that's me.

5. What is your favorite movie of all time?
Toughie. A toss up between Shogun, Gone with the Wind, It's A Wonderful Life.
And from my dear friend, the lovely [livejournal.com profile] voxangelus :

1. Favorite sort of tea? (I know, I know, it's like choosing a favorite child)
Actually, I do have a hands-down favourite. It is an oolong tea called Ti Quan Ying, of tea of the Iron Goddess of Mercy. I used to tell customers if someone came into the shop and told me I had to give away all of my 85 teas except one, that would be the one I keep, no question.

2. What's your favorite dessert?
Another no brainer. My friend kela's creme brulee. It is the food of the gods, but don't let her tell you it's easy, because when she tries to tell me how easy it is to make it sounds like brain surgery to me.

3. Best job you've ever had?
Working for myself at the Victoria Tea Room. I will never enjoy anything as much, unless I become a full-time writer.

4. What's your favorite thing about Mr Teddy?
He's very silly and funny, and refuses to take himself too seriously. He's a great actor and musician, and he's not a player - he's a loyal, loving person, and I've honestly never met anyone who didn't truly like him.

5. How did you get interested in fandom?
My beautiful kela again. She wanted me to get back into writing, and recommended I read For The Potions Master's Amusement. I was flabbergasted! I had no idea there was even such a thing as HP fanfiction. I knew fanfiction (I'd even written Highlander fanfiction in the past - I know, it was the 90's), but HP FF was just off my radar. But it spoke to me as few things have ever spoken to me in my life, and suddenly I was writing original fiction again, and once I popped my fanfiction cherry, I was hooked.

"Name 3 people, living or dead, that you would want to have dinner with.

"Hitler, Oscar Schindler, Basil Rathbone"

Now that would be one epic dinner conversation!

I think it would be interesting, to say the least!

Thank you, babe - that was most insightful. I love your garden... I've been privileged to be allowed to wander through it from time to time, and it was most inspirational... I send warm thoughts your way every day - and thank the gods you are my friend.

Now, turnabout's fair play - you be on top - ask ME!

OMG! Is it politically incorrect that I laughed at the idea of Hitler and Oscar Schindler having dinner together? No matter... LOL!

[identity profile] teddyradiator.livejournal.com 2011-06-18 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I know. I have always wanted to talk to Hitler - I have always thought he would be an interesting person to converse with, in the days before he went off the rails.

If your little dinner party happened one might imagine blood on the ground...until you consider that Schindler was an active member of the NSDAP until the end, and not only to save the lives of "his" Jews.

It would be interesting to see... complicated men have always fascinated me...frustrated the hell out of me, and I never truly got along with one, but fascinated me all the same.

I have always wanted to have dinner with Hitler, too. I always get the weirdest looks when I give that answer, but I would like to pick his brain. I think he is incredibly interesting, and watching him give speeches is amazing.

It's funny, I have always thought so, too. I don't speak German, but he was a mesmerising speaker - very charismatic. I think Hitler taught me that just because a person is evil it doesn't mean they can't be seductive or alluring - in fact, I think they can be more so. I read Mein Kamf (sp?) years ago, and it was compelling reading - very much the type of stuff I would have thought Lord Voldemort would have written to seduce the Purebloods into the idea of ethnic cleansing.
