December Delights - 20 December 2015

It's been a very quiet day today. TheHubs™ finished up A Christmas Carol, then stayed a bit to strike the set. I've taken it easy food-wise today, in hopes of settling my stomach, and it seems to have done the trick. I'm sticking to cereal and rice and other bland foods right now. I did have some cranberry sauce earlier, because I just love the stuff, but the tummy seems fine now. Much love to everyone who offered comfort and advice and healing vibes - I felt 'em, every one.

The amazing [livejournal.com profile] lemonade8 sent me a Christmas Pressie today, which inspired me to write a drabble series on [livejournal.com profile] grangersnape100. You can see the gorgeous art and read my accompanying fic HERE.

I'm learning how to knit a patterned hat, using the knitting looms. So far, so good, but I'm dreadful at following patterns, so it's a lot of trial and error. Also, the directions weren't exactly for novices like me, so I had to start over because I really wasn't getting it. I will post pics if it works.

I feel awful that I haven't posted pics of the house. To be honest, it's a bit messy, and will probably stay that way until Wednesday or so. I will DEFINITELY take photos, though - I like to do that every year.

Tomorrow we finish Christmas shopping, and we have to work on Tuesday. That leaves Wednesday for cleaning, baking and getting the house ready for Christmas Eve guests. This stomach blip has put me off schedule, but I'm going to try and not give it too much worry. It will be what it is, and it's family - they aren't going to go around with the white gloves.

I'll leave you with this. I love this guy.

I'm glad you're feeling better, and I look forward to pics.

I'm the idiot who forgot her scissors at home so I can't craft at work tonight. Heh. I hope the project comes out. The trick with patterns is finding the repetition. Though somehow I managed a brand new not in my book pattern on my loom last night when I got distracted. I kept it to see if I can figure out what I did.

The stomach thing is probably stress. I get all manner of digestive upsets when I'm stressed out, and I, too don't see a doctor. Google tells me that most of those things resolve themselves, with or without treatment, so I trust Google on this one. Doctors run expensive tests just to cover their own asses in case you sue (and also for the added money, of course) and they prescribe antibiotics willy-nilly because they assume that patients want a prescription, even if it doesn't do anything. (Google says that most of these things are viral, not bacterial, and that antibiotics are useless. And we all know by now that overuse of antibiotics is responsible for super strains of viruses.) I'm sure that you will feel better once the holidays pass.

Yes, and I do tend to overindulge. I mean, in the past week we've been to three separate parties with all sorts of heavy food, I baked cookies and fruit cake, of which I partook, and a particularly rich meatloaf, which I had in a sandwich, and a hefty amount of Gluwein. It's begging for trouble with your bowl out, with no gall bladder.

I am also a bit of a hypochondriac, and I know it, so I just tell myself to give it a few days to resolve itself, and it usually does. I feel fine now, so I think it's exactly what you said - stress and overeating.
